As a witch who had been worshiped like a god by humans in ancient times, she clearly couldn't stand being judged by Alex.
The woman, radiating a black aura with sparks drifting around her, her jet-black hair messy and wild, had terrifying light shining in her eyes as she made a threatening gesture at Alex.
Alex changed into casual clothes and said, "Miss, either tell me what you want."
"Or get lost."
"Don't you know that staring at a man while he's changing is very rude?"
The witch didn't speak modern human languages, but she reached out and touched the mirror beside her.
Black energy poured from her fingertips. It wriggled like filthy little worms and arranged itself into a sentence on the mirror.
[Amanda wants to kill you. She's formed a squad made up of desperate criminals.]
Alex smiled and shrugged, "So what?"
"No matter how hard a bunch of trash tries, they can't kill me."
The witch narrowed her eyes slightly. The black energy on the mirror shifted: [Don't underestimate them, especially me.]
Alex laughed, "Give me a break. Your heart is being controlled by that old woman. If you were really as powerful as you say, how did you end up like this?"
He reached out and lifted the witch's chin, "If you want me to help you, be direct. Lower your attitude. Beg me. Maybe I'll consider it."
Anger flashed in the witch's eyes. She slipped into the mirror, then wiped a hand across its surface, leaving behind a message.
[We can help each other.]
[I can help you deal with Amanda, but you have to help me get my heart back.]
Alex looked at the mirror and didn't respond. He just pushed open the fitting room door and walked out.
The witch seemed able to move through mirrors, even any reflective surface.
She appeared like a ghost in the mirror ahead of Alex, making new words appear: [Don't you value your life?]
Alex chuckled, "Looks like you don't know how to ask for help at all."
"Miss, I already said it. That trash team can't kill me. That includes you."
"In that team, only you and the fire guy are somewhat interesting."
"Oh, and there's also that girl with the katana. Her blade's a bit strange."
"Other than that, what can a circus troupe do to me?"
"If you want my help, fine. But you'll have to offer a better price."
"For example, become my slave."
"In that case, to save my slave, maybe I'd feel motivated to act."
The witch emerged halfway out of the mirror, her expression twisted as if she wanted to pounce on him.
Alex raised his hand and lightly patted her face, "Also, next time, clean yourself up a bit."
"I like clean women."
Then he walked out of the shop, got into a car that had just stopped by the roadside, threw the driver out, and drove off.
The witch watched him leave, snorted, and vanished.
———
The next second, she returned to Belle Reve.
Amanda, her hand resting on the witch's heart, said coldly, "Why so slow?"
Without expecting an answer, she continued, "Did you figure out where that man is?"
The witch nodded.
Amanda immediately looked at the criminals in front of her, "Bring their gear."
"Suit up, then move out!"
She turned to Colonel Flag, "Notify Katana. Have her come too."
Colonel Flag nodded, then watched as the witch turned back into his girlfriend, Dr. Moone.

[Kansas]
It was already night.
Faint barking of dogs could be heard from the farmland.
Clark, wearing a plaid shirt, sat on the steps of the house, holding a freshly opened bottle of beer.
His expression shifted slightly, and he soon saw his mother, Martha, wrapped in a coat, sitting down beside him.
Martha didn't speak. She just gently stroked her son's head with concern, then leaned against his strong arm.
Clark didn't speak either. He just drank silently.
At that moment, on the road in front of their house, headlights appeared in the distance.
Moments later, a car stopped in front of the house.
The door opened, and Diana Prince, her long hair tied high in a ponytail, stepped out.
Leaning against the car, she smiled, "Can we talk?"
Clark's eyes were deep, his voice low as he said, "Mom, I'm going out for a bit."
Martha glanced at Diana, "I'll go watch some TV."
Clark stood up, holding the beer bottle, and walked into the fields.
Diana followed.
She said, "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Diana. Bruce and I… know each other."
Clark silently parted the wheat as he walked straight to a small grave.
A stone marker stood there, with a wreath placed below it.
Diana spread her hands, "You need to pull yourself together."
"I know you feel disappointed in this world."
"But it's not beyond saving yet."
Clark rested his hand on the gravestone, "Then tell me, what counts as beyond saving?"
Diana looked up at the night sky, "That would probably be when Darkseid descends from the sky, retrieves the three Mother Boxes, and unleashes the Unity."
Clark didn't ask who Darkseid was, nor did he show any interest in the Mother Boxes or the Unity.
Diana walked to his side, "You didn't kill Bruce Wayne. That means you still have a bit of hope for this world."
Clark smiled faintly, "I didn't kill Bruce Wayne because I knew he didn't mean it."
"And I also know that even if I killed him, Lois wouldn't come back."
"More importantly, my mother wouldn't want her son to become a killer. A murderer."
"But that has nothing to do with how I see the world."
"Miss Prince, Bruce mentioned you might be some kind of god."
"Anyway, you've lived a long time."
"I want to ask you something. After living that long, haven't you realized that this world has always been terrible?"
"War, violence, endless destruction."
"Every single day."
"Even so, you still want to save this awful world?"
Diana's eyes dimmed slightly, then she said, "During World War I, I lost the love of my life."
"At that time, just like you, I thought this world was beyond saving."
"But this messy, chaotic world was the very one that man was willing to give his life to protect."
"So after some time, I thought… I should keep watching."
"So I didn't return to my people. I stayed among humans."
"I won't deny there are many disgusting people among them."
"But there are also many noble ones, working hard to make this world better."
"And even when they face countless hardships and setbacks, they don't give up hope."
"So I think this world may not be that terrible. It still has hope."
"Just like you."
Clark looked at the striking woman in front of him.
"Mother Boxes..Artifacts of a super-advanced civilization left on Earth in ancient times."
"They were brought here by Darkseid."
Diana briefly described the abilities of the Mother Boxes and their connection to Darkseid.
"We think that if we can find a Mother Box, we might be able to bring Lois back to life."
Clark's expression shifted slightly.
He finished the last of his beer, "We?"
"Me, Bruce Wayne, and… John," Diana looked at him.
Clark frowned in confusion, "John?"
"Yes, John."
Diana helped jog his memory, "Do you remember what happened in Metropolis?"
"John is the man who fought both you and Bruce that night."
"He's very mysterious."
"No known origin."
"But he knows a lot. Even information about the Mother Boxes and Darkseid."
Diana's expression grew serious, "After the Metropolis incident, Bruce and I tried to investigate him."
"But it's like he appeared out of nowhere."
"The only thing we found is that his first appearance was in Metropolis."
"And at the time, he was with an Asian girl."
"That girl appeared during the Kryptonian incident two years ago. She walked out of a room filled with rubble."
"Then she disappeared mysteriously, until recently, when she showed up again with Mr. John."
"Bruce conducted a thorough investigation, but found that neither John nor that girl has any records."
"Not a single trace."
"No credit cards, no medical records."
"It's like they don't exist in this world."
"No one can be that clean. Not you, not me."
"But they have no trace at all. It's very strange."
Clark listened quietly, then turned around, "I've been out too long."
"I should go back."
Diana didn't follow. Instead, she said, "Pull yourself together. Once Bruce finds the Mother Box, we'll come find you."
Clark didn't respond. He walked out of the wheat field and returned to the small house he shared with his mother.
Diana took out her phone and dialed a number.
Moments later, Bruce's voice came through, ["What did he say?"]
Diana walked toward her car as she spoke, "He didn't give any response."
"Even hearing that Lois might come back didn't excite him at all."
"I'm a bit worried."
"What if he doesn't want to bring Lois back?"
Batman was silent for a moment, then said, ["Do you think he doesn't want to?"]
Diana shook her head lightly, "I'm not sure. It's just a feeling."
"I can't sense any vitality in Clark. He's like a walking corpse."
"He's still alive… maybe just because he can't die."
"So I'm worried. What if even his desire to bring Lois back is gone?"
Bruce let out a long sigh, ["For now, we can only try to find the Mother Box first. Once we have it, we'll see if we can move him."]
["Speaking of which, I found some clues in Lex's files."]
["The Mother Box that humans have might be closer than we think."]
Diana said, "I'll head back right away."
———
[Midway City, "Night Carnival" bar]
Alex sat there with a woman on each side, enjoying their attention.
After leaving the clothing store during the day, he used the car's navigation and drove to Midway City.
He chose this place because soon, the main storyline of the "Suicide Squad" would unfold here.
After arriving, Alex sold the car, took the cash, and casually found a bar to pass the time.
Right now, two women were pleasing him, while in front of him, a pole dancer performed just for him.
Whenever he saw an impressive move, Alex would clap and cheer, casually tossing out the money he got from selling the car as tips.
He pretended not to notice that the bar was already under control, and the various people inside were being evacuated.
After a while, the loud music outside suddenly stopped.
Then someone whistled, drawing the attention of the women.
A man carrying a rifle gestured, "Ladies, we're closing. Leave now."
Colonel Flag!
Behind him stood a hooded, muscular man, a black man with a targeting device over his left eye, and a woman in a T-shirt and shorts carrying a bat.
Seeing this lineup, the women quickly grabbed Alex's tip money and ran.
Alex spread his hands, "Couldn't you have come a bit later? I was relaxing."
Colonel Flag said, "Yeah? Well, sorry about that."
"Here's the thing, Mr. John."
"You destroyed the White House. The damages are incalculable. So you're coming with us."
Alex picked up a bottle of beer and raised it toward them.
"What if I say no?"
"You planning to have that bunch of freaks teach me a lesson?"
"Send that crocodile to bite me? Or have that crazy beauty smack me with a bat?"
"Or maybe let your girlfriend turn into a witch and scare me?"
Deadshot, wearing an infrared sight, said quietly, "This isn't good. He seems to know exactly who we are."
"What, scared and thinking of running?", Flag sneered, then turned to a petite woman wearing a half-white mask.
"Keep an eye on them."
Then he looked back at Alex, "I'm not asking you, mister."
Alex propped his legs on the table, "Neither am I."
Flag shook his head and stepped back, "They're all yours."
Then he looked at his girlfriend, Dr. Moone.
The young, beautiful doctor softly said, "Enchantress."
A hand grabbed Dr. Moone, flipped her over, and the witch appeared before everyone, radiating black energy with sparks drifting around her.
Her figure vanished instantly, reappearing in a mirror behind Alex.
The Enchantress reached out from the mirror, holding Alex's head, trying to slam it into the mirror.
But Alex didn't move at all.
At the same time, a man called Slipknot in the squad used a grappling gun like Batman's, hooking onto a chandelier above.
With a whoosh, he flew up and opened fire on Alex.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A burst of bullets tore through, smashing the sofa, table, bottles, and everything around Alex.
At that moment, a beam shot up from below. The golden beam swept across Slipknot, cutting him clean in half.
"Oh!"
Seeing the upper half of Slipknot still hanging from the ceiling, many faces changed.
Harley blew a bubble and looked at Flag, "You sure we can handle this magician? Maybe just shoot me in the head now. Either way I'm dead, might as well make it quick."
She looked at Slipknot with disgust, "I don't want to die like that."
Flag's expression turned ugly. He shouted, "All of you, attack!"
"Now!"
"Or I detonate your nanobombs!"
Harley's bubble popped. She started chewing again, "Alright, alright, we're working."
She called out to Alex, "Mr. Magician, we're being forced into this. You won't blame us, right?"
As she spoke, she pulled out a revolver and fired.
Deadshot aimed at Alex and unleashed a barrage with his rifle.
Together with the other soldiers, gunfire filled the bar, sending debris flying everywhere.
At that moment, El Diablo turned around and started walking away, seemingly unwilling to join.
Captain Boomerang looked around, clearly thinking about running.
Katana drew her Soultaker sword, circled behind Alex, and charged with a shout.
Her blade sliced through the back of a sofa, then stopped on Alex's shoulder.
She could see it clearly, her katana couldn't even cut his clothes.
Alex grabbed the blade and tried to snap it. Surprisingly, it didn't break.
A bit unexpected.
"Pretty sturdy."
The masked woman didn't dare hesitate. She quickly pulled her blade back and retreated.
Killer Croc tore off his shirt, lunged forward, and bit toward Alex.
Alex grabbed him and threw him aside. The mutated man flew off and crashed onto the stage.
Then the Enchantress used her magic on Alex, trying to make him see illusions.
But the moment she entered his mind, she met resistance. The backlash of her magic made her see a vision of her own heart being pierced and her dying miserably.
Alex stood up and walked toward the squad through the storm of bullets.
Harley rushed in, swinging her bat. Alex smiled and lightly pushed her, sending her screaming as she flew away.
Then Alex suddenly burst through the barrage and appeared in front of El Diablo, looking at the tattoo-covered man.
"You're not joining in?"
El Diablo looked up, "Back off. I don't want to hurt you."
"Hurt me? Like how you burned your wife and kids?", Alex smiled brightly.
Boom!
El Diablo erupted in flames, then thrust his hands forward, unleashing a torrent of fire.
Alex stood in the flames, feeling the intense heat within them.
He nodded, "For a human, that's quite impressive."
"But I know you can do better. So why not show me your fire demon form?"
Seeing Alex unharmed in the flames, El Diablo gritted his teeth and roared.
His body burst into even more intense flames, his form expanding rapidly until he transformed into a hellfire demon.
The demon strode toward Alex, clenched its fist, and smashed it down with force.
