That message wasn't from just anyone; it was from that psycho! It said: "Hey brainless you must reach this address exactly by 11:00 AM tomorrow. If you are even a minute late, the punishment will be very severe." My blood boiled the moment I saw that message. If that psycho were in front of me right now, I'd scrub him against a rock like a fish and rub raw chili powder all over him—he's lucky he escaped! Calling me "brainless "? And what's with this "punishment" talk? Who does he think he is, the Founder of Punishments? I felt like plucking his eyes out. I was trying to be kind and let things go, but he's crossing the line. Just wait until tomorrow—if I don't show him a "5D movie" (give him a nightmare), my name isn't Hasini! I cursed him out thoroughly in my head.
Just then, Vini called. "Why is she still awake?" I wondered as I answered. "Tell me Vini, haven't you slept yet?" I asked.
"How can I sleep? That 'Chameleon' is showing me stars!" Vini replied angrily.
"Chameleon? Who is that?" I asked, confused.
"Who else? That Mr. Arjun who stuck to me like gum this morning," she said, grinding her teeth.
I burst out laughing, remembering everything that happened that morning.
"Hey Hasini! I'm here losing my mind because he's calling and eating my brain, and you're laughing?" Vini asked, sounding beyond frustrated.
"Sorry, dear, so sorry! I didn't mean to laugh, it just came out when I remembered this morning. Anyway, how on earth did he get your number?" I asked her.
"I have no idea! That's what's driving me crazy," Vini replied.
"Wait, what exactly happened? What did he say? Tell me everything," I urged.
Vini started explaining. After reaching home, vini was so exhausted from the day's work that she skipped dinner, freshened up, and collapsed face-first onto her bed. She drifted off to sleep instantly.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Annoyed by the disturbance, she rolled over, and the call cut off. Then it rang again. "Ugh, who is calling at this hour? Don't they have any work?" she muttered sleepily. Without opening her eyes, she answered, "Hello? Who is this? Don't you have any common sense calling at this time?"
From the other end, a voice said, "Hi, angel."
Hearing "angel " shocked Vini awake. She sat up instantly. "Hey! Who are you? How dare you call me angel ?"
"What, angel ? Did you forget me already? I'm the guy from the canteen this morning—the one whose shirt you soaked with Coke. You even threatened to drown me in Tank Bund, remember?" Arjun asked.
The scene of meeting Arjun that morning flashed before Vini's eyes. She yelled, "You waste fellow! Don't you understand when someone tells you off once? How did you get my number?"
"Does it matter how I got it, angel ? Your number is what's important. Once I have it, the 'how' doesn't matter," Arjun replied with a chuckle.
"Don't give me your philosophy! Tell me clearly, how did you get my number?" she demanded.
"Why do you keep asking the same thing? Fine, listen. While you were busy scolding me, I saw your number on the ID card around your neck. Once I see something, it's saved in my mind forever. That's how," Arjun explained playfully.
"Are you even human or a robot? While I was shouting at you, you were busy checking my name and number on my ID? You idiot!" Vini cursed.
"Yes, angel , Anyway, do you know why I called? I can't sleep. I thought if you sang me a lullaby, I'd sleep peacefully. That's why I called," Arjun said, laughing.
Vini's expression went through a rollercoaster of emotions. She didn't know whether to scream or cry; she literally started pulling her own hair in frustration. "Who do you think you are?! Why should I sing you a lullaby? I've been watching since morning—you're acting like I'm your lover or your wife!" Vini snapped at him.
