Ava's Pov
I didn't stay in the living room for long after that.
Amanda kept talking to my mum like nothing had just happened, adjusting things that didn't need adjusting, asking questions that didn't need answers. It was too much.
"I'll be in my room," I said.
No one stopped me.
I walked down the hallway and closed the door behind me, then dropped my phone on the bed and sat beside it. For a few minutes, I didn't do anything. I just sat there, thinking about everything Leon said and everything he didn't say.
It didn't feel like we moved forward.
If anything, it felt like we just circled the same issue and left it there.
I picked up my phone and checked it again even though I already knew there wouldn't be anything new. I opened our messages, stared at the last one for a second, then locked it and set it down again.
I didn't want to call him.
But I didn't like that he wasn't calling either.
