The Three Warriors of Asgard and Sif, four Asgardian warriors dressed in medieval attire, followed the scent straight to the small town where Thor was staying.
The pedestrians on the street didn't react much to the quartet, assuming they were cosplayers or extras filming a movie. At most, a few people glanced at them with curiosity.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. agents perched on the rooftops, monitoring Thor, also spotted the four newcomers.
"Is there a performance art festival going on in town?"
"Report it up!"
Unlike the civilians, the agents knew better. They immediately relayed the situation to their superiors.
"Hold your positions. Observe for now," Coulson ordered, while telling his driver to speed up.
Meanwhile, at Jane's house, her father—who had a penchant for exposing things—stared at the map of the Nine Realms Thor had drawn as if he'd discovered a new continent. "This is the perfect conclusion," he remarked, "but the scientific community will never accept it without concrete evidence."
"Am I not evidence?" Thor asked with a simple smile, resting his hand on Jane's shoulder in a gesture of close intimacy. "A living Asgardian prince, son of Odin, Thor, God of Thunder."
But then, a sudden chill crept down Thor's spine.
*Killing intent!*
As a warrior who had lived for 1,500 years, Thor instantly sensed danger.
He turned around.
Sif was leaning against the window, her eyes locked onto him with a deadly stare. Her hand gripped the glass, scraping it with a piercing screech.
*Gulp.*
Caught in the act by his fiancée, Thor felt a wave of awkwardness and helplessness wash over him. Then, he saw the Three Warriors of Asgard shooting him looks of pure sympathy.
"Thor, we found you! Looks like you're doing just fine on Midgard," Volstagg boomed with a hearty laugh.
"My friends, it's so good to see you!"
Thor quickly pulled his hand off Jane, hoping to break the tension and embrace his comrades.
But he only made it halfway before Sif kicked him squarely in the chest, sending him flying several meters back. He slammed into a bookshelf and knocked unconscious.
"(⊙o⊙) Whoa~" Fandral's eyes widened.
Hogun remarked, "Sif, you went too hard. Thor doesn't have his divine power right now."
"He deserves it," Sif snorted, turning her gaze to Jane.
Jane stared back defiantly. "This is my house."
"Is that so? I'm Thor's fiancée."
Sif and Jane stared each other down, the air crackling with tension.
"I think the main point right now is to take Thor back," Volstagg reminded them.
"Only if he wants to go."
Jane stepped forward. Now that Thor was unconscious, she couldn't be sure if these people would harm him.
Hogun took out a secret medicine and woke Thor up.
Thor rubbed his back, still feeling some soreness, and looked at the Three Warriors of Asgard: "My friends, I'm happy to see you, but you shouldn't have come."
Fandral paused. "What are you saying? We've come to take you home."
Sif said sourly, "It seems someone has already forgotten Asgard."
Thor said sadly, "No, you know I can't go back. Father died because of me, I must continue my exile."
Volstagg said seriously, "Thor, Loki lied to you. All-Father Odin is not dead, he has only entered hibernation. Now Loki controls Asgard. You know him, we must stop him, otherwise Asgard will fall into chaos."
"But I've lost my divine power and Mjolnir. I'm just a mortal now. I can't fight alongside you even if I go back." Thor was furious at first, but after facing so many setbacks on Earth in just a few days, he started to think things through and quickly calmed down.
Looking into the distance, Thor declared firmly, "I must retrieve my hammer."
After some discussion, the group took Boss Jian's car and headed to the landing site of Mjolnir.
On the way, they ran into Coulson.
Coulson had just arrived at the Bifrost landing site where the Three Warriors of Asgard and Sif had previously teleported. The site bore the marks left by the Bifrost's transmission.
The Bifrost was a product of rune technology—or rune magic. When the transmission was severed, it would leave a circular pattern on the ground, inscribed with ancient runes.
At the same time, the Bifrost was a star-destroying weapon. If left open for a prolonged period, its immense energy could destroy a planet. In *Thor 1*, Loki had attempted to use the Bifrost to destroy Jotunheim.
Just as Coulson and his team stepped out of their car to inspect the site, they saw the car carrying Thor and his companions. Though Coulson didn't know what they were up to, professional habit drove him to immediately order his men to intercept them.
Seeing Volstagg holding a melee weapon, Coulson didn't take it seriously at first.
After all, although Thor called himself the God of Thunder and could fight a dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents empty-handed, in Coulson's eyes, his strength was only so-so. Hawkeye could easily take him down.
However, for safety reasons, Coulson still used a megaphone to shout, "You are using unauthorized weapons and are suspected of illegal entry. Please put down your weapons now and state your identities."
"Who does this guy think he is, daring to order us to put down our weapons?"
Volstagg pushed open the car door, sending the business van's door flying over a dozen meters, and stepped out swinging his battle axe.
Fandral, Hogun, and Sif also stood up.
As Asgardian warriors, they had their own pride. They had always considered themselves gods and looked down on the people of Midgard as mere mortals. How could they possibly obey so meekly?
Never expect a lion to follow rules set by a bunch of rabbits. The only law in nature is the law of the jungle—the strong prey on the weak.
"Wait, let's talk this over," Thor quickly stepped forward to mediate as the two sides were about to fight.
Volstagg and the others exchanged strange glances, feeling that Thor had truly changed.
The Thor of old was brave and decisive, holding Asgard's honor as his life. He always led the charge in battle, and at the slightest disagreement, he would swing his hammer and strike.
How dashing he had been! Why was he so hesitant and cautious now?
Just as the two sides were on the verge of a fight, booming music erupted from Coulson's car. Then, an iron figure descended from the sky.
The newcomer was none other than Iron Man, Tony Stark.
Tony was now wearing the Mark VI armor, the sixth suit he had created.
By this point, Tony had solved the palladium poisoning from the Arc Reactor and had partnered with Hongmeng Group to obtain the rights to use their new energy source. The armor was colored red and gold with a touch of silver, giving it a sleek, futuristic look. A triangular Arc Reactor repulsor was embedded in its chest.
The biggest difference between the Mark VI and previous suits was the use of a Vibranium Arc Reactor—a benefit gained from Hongmeng Technology Group. In exchange, Tony had surrendered a 30% stake in Stark Industries.
The armor's main advantages were its increased energy capacity and its ability to operate underwater.
The Mark VI's defenses had also been significantly upgraded; it would sustain only minor damage in typical combat and could even absorb external energy to recharge its own systems.
The repulsors in the palms and chest remained the Iron Man armor's signature weapons. In addition, it was now equipped with a single-use laser capable of slicing through anything in a short time, while the arm gauntlets housed eight micro-armor-piercing missiles with devastating power.
A heavy missile was mounted on the right shoulder, and decoy flares were installed on the hips to jam heat-seeking missiles or distract enemies.
Tony still enjoyed showing off. He performed a classic superhero landing and, spotting Thor, Volstagg, Sif, Hogun, and Fandral, habitually assigned them nicknames: "Let's see... Lebowski, God of War, Princess Xena, Jackie Chan, and Robinson. Are you five planning to team up for a game?"
