Ava's POV
The plan took two hours to build, and Leo tore it apart three times before he was satisfied.
She watched him work. Phone calls made in low, precise sentences. A laptop Price produced from somewhere without being asked, thin and unmarked, that Leo opened on the small table and typed on with the focused speed of someone who knew exactly what they were doing. Documents appearing on screen that she couldn't read from the bed but could tell from his expression required total concentration.
She didn't interrupt. She ordered food from the hotel menu because neither of them had eaten since the coffee that morning, and hunger was a practical problem with a practical solution, and practical problems were the ones she could actually fix right now.
The food arrived. She set a plate beside the laptop without comment. He ate without looking away from the screen, which she took as a reasonable success.
