The study was silent as Smith went through the details of the report on the investigation on Eva and Liam. Asia just watched him, taking note of the little crease between his brows. She also noticed the way his eyes blinked every now and then.
She licked her lips, but unease had long begun to settle in her heart.
"I see what you mean when you said it doesn't add up," Smith muttered, his gaze still on the paper in hand. Then he raised his head, and his eyes narrowed ever so slightly at her.
Asia blinked, her face flushed as she realized she's been caught staring a bit too long. "Y…yes, that's right…" she stammered. She took a moment to gather herself. "It doesn't make any sense how she was able to afford the money for the surgery at that age and also…"
"There was no mention of her mother," Smith nodded his head and completed her statement.
