With a loud 'bang,' the wooden cup flew as if it had eyes, striking the adventurer squarely on the head. The pain made him let out a blood-curdling scream.
"Keep your filthy hands off my things! These were specially bought for me by Dan Feng and Roxy!" The landlady roared furiously at the adventurer upon seeing what he was trying to do.
When the adventurer heard the name "Dan Feng," his heart jolted. He quickly turned to look at the two people standing in front of the landlady.
Among them was a familiar head of black hair and an ice-cold, stern face—it was none other than the infamous "commission-grinding demon" of Millishion from a few years ago—Dan Feng!
"What?! Cold Dragon Young is back!" The adventurer stared in utter shock and disbelief at Dan Feng, as if he had seen a ghost.
Dan Feng merely gave him a faint glance—mm, someone he had absolutely no recollection of.
Realizing the situation was bad, the adventurer didn't say another word. He turned and bolted out of the tavern like his feet were greased.
He had to hurry and spread this terrifying news to the crowd at the Adventurers' Guild.
Ever since Dan Feng left Millishion, the adventurers here had been living incredibly comfortable lives.
They no longer had to worry about missing out on good commissions. Every day they could leisurely pick up tasks, then head to the tavern at night to drink to their hearts' content. After getting thoroughly drunk, they would stagger back to their inns and sleep soundly.
That had practically become the daily routine for most adventurers in Millishion.
"Landlady, where are Mayibeia and Galdaruf?" Roxy scanned the surroundings. Normally, Mayibeia would be bustling about cleaning, but she was nowhere to be seen. Puzzled, Roxy turned to ask the landlady.
The landlady thought for a moment and replied, "Oh, Mayibeia and the others? I think they went out to complete a commission. They should be back in a little while."
Right after the landlady finished speaking, she stepped out from behind the counter and stood in front of Roxy and Dan Feng.
Her gaze moved up and down over the two of them, curiosity shining in her eyes.
"Not bad at all. You both look like you've been doing quite well out there—your complexions are nice and rosy. Come on, tell me everything. What have you two been up to since leaving Millishion?" The landlady smiled brightly as she pulled Roxy to sit down on a nearby chair, eager to hear their stories.
Compared to the boring tales of the smelly adventurers in Millishion, she much preferred hearing about Dan Feng and Roxy's adventures.
Seeing how interested the landlady was, Roxy didn't refuse. She began recounting the adventures she and Dan Feng had experienced.
She told the landlady everything she could remember in detail—every person they met, every event, and every hardship they overcame.
For example, the theft incident at the western port inn, and the blue-ringed octopus they encountered at sea.
The landlady sat quietly to the side, listening attentively to Roxy's story and occasionally interjecting with a question or two to ask for more details.
Throughout the entire time, the landlady remained patient, showing not the slightest sign of impatience.
When Roxy mentioned the Central Continent, the landlady suddenly interrupted her, asking urgently, "Did you happen to see my daughter Lifa there?"
Roxy, of course, knew that Lifa and her husband had gone to the Central Continent, but the Central Continent was vast. She truly hadn't encountered Lifa.
So she gently shook her head and replied, "I'm sorry, I didn't see her."
"But the Central Continent is so big—maybe she settled down in some city there."
Hearing this answer, a flash of disappointment crossed the landlady's face. She fell silent for a moment before slowly saying, "It's been many years since I last saw my daughter…"
Roxy could understand how the landlady felt. After all, this was the same landlady who had turned herself into a dress-up doll for fun—she must miss her daughter terribly. Roxy comforted her, saying, "Don't worry too much. Maybe one day you'll see each other again."
The landlady nodded. Though she still felt regret, she tried her best to cheer up.
Then Roxy continued telling her stories, and the landlady listened quietly, occasionally adding a few words.
When Roxy reached the part where Dan Feng saved her in the S-rank labyrinth, a happy smile bloomed across her face.
Watching her, the landlady couldn't help but smile as well. "So you and Dan Feng are lovers now, huh."
Roxy nodded shyly. "Yes. It's one of the happiest things in my life."
The landlady said with emotion, "Seeing you so happy makes me happy for you too. I hope you two can stay happy forever. After all, back when Mayibeia first brought Dan Feng here, he wasn't even this tall. You could say I watched him grow up."
"We will! From now on, Dan Feng is in my care. I'll definitely take good care of him," Roxy said confidently, patting her flat chest.
Hearing Roxy's words filled Dan Feng's heart with warmth. Although in reality he was mostly the one taking care of Roxy, he could clearly feel how much love she had for him.
Not long after, a familiar voice rang out: "Landlady! We're back for food!"
Mayibeia and Galdaruf pushed open the tavern door.
They had just finished submitting their commission at the Adventurers' Guild and hadn't even had time to hear the latest big gossip there before rushing back to the tavern for a meal—showing just how hungry they were.
The moment Mayibeia saw Dan Feng and Roxy, she exclaimed, "Ah! Dan Feng and little Roxy are back?!"
She quickly walked over to Roxy and, in front of everyone, thoroughly rubbed and pinched Roxy's soft cheeks.
"Let me see if little Roxy has gotten thinner—mm~ nope, not at all." Mayibeia smiled brightly as she played with Roxy's cheeks.
Roxy irritably swatted away Mayibeia's hand that was freely ravaging her face, then huffed cutely, "I was going to give you a gift, but since you're like this, forget it!"
"Aw, come on, little Roxy~ I was wrong!"
...
Afterward, the landlady prepared a huge table full of food, intending to let Dan Feng and Roxy have a proper meal.
She barely paid attention to the adventurers who came to drink at the tavern, letting them serve themselves.
Of course, these adventurers—who had been drinking here for years—wouldn't take advantage of the landlady.
At the dining table, Mayibeia looked mysteriously at Dan Feng and Roxy. Then, while the two of them stared at her in confusion, she said something that left both of them stunned.
"Dan Feng, little Roxy—Galdaruf and I are husband and wife now~" Mayibeia said shyly to the two of them.
Roxy was utterly shocked when she heard this. "What?! You two actually got married?!"
