I picked up both Maki and Mai. Even though I am just a little bit taller than them, my body shouldn't have the strength of two of them who are similar to me in both height and weight, but because of the fight with the Grade 1 curse, my base strength was improved because I could easily pick them up.
Maki's and Mai's faces completely went red as they looked at Naoya with dreamy faces. Once again, their heart was beating fast.
The reason why Naoya picked them up was because they looked like they couldn't walk after a week in isolation, with little food and water; it was normal.
I came to Maki and Mai's mother. "Clean them up and give them food." Taking the posture of a servant, she nodded. But I faintly see an almost invisible small smile.
A smile that was formed from relief that her children were okay and rescued, but because she is a woman of Zenin, she can't show it on her face, as this is technically a challenge against Ogi, her husband.
Even in oppression, a mother is still a mother.
After entrusting them to her, I turned around, but Maki called me from behind. "Where are you going? Stay with us."
I turned and looked at Maki, whose eyes had an innocence, like she wasn't abused to the maximum. Mai was also looking in my direction with the same eyes as Maki. But then, I looked at their bruises.
I return a smile at them. "I will come back in a moment. I just need to talk with your father."
---
I came to Ogi Zenin's office; I knocked and entered the room. Even though I am angry, I am not blinded by it. Probably because I am way past that stage. I thought to myself.
"Naoya, what are you doing in my quarter?" Ogi said without looking up from whatever he was reading.
"Ogi, how about we have a duel?" I came straight to the point; no, point hiding behind pleasantries either way.
"When did you become this arrogant to call me by my name, Brat?" Ogi asked as he looked up and tried to pressure me with his gaze.
"Today's what, Wednesday?" I said as I looked at the calendar then nodded to myself. "I became this arrogant from around last Sunday. Anyway, do you want to duel? I also got a new technique I wanted to try."
"Did that fight with the Grade 1 curse damage your brain?" he asked. "Or did the clan start praising you so much that you forgot your place?"
Neither answer mattered to me. I simply watched him.
His fingers tapped slowly against the desk.
"You defeated one curse," he continued. "And suddenly you believe you can challenge a Grade 1 sorcerer?"
I tilted my head slightly."That's the point of a duel."
His gaze sharpened. "Arrogant brat."
He stood up from his seat.
The moment he rose, the atmosphere in the room shifted. His cursed energy leaked slightly—not enough to attack, but enough to make to press me down.
"Do you understand what you're asking?" he said slowly. "If I accept, I am not required to hold back."
"That's fine."
"You could die."
"That's fine too."
That made him pause. His eyes narrowed. "You speak very lightly about death."
I shrugged again. "I fought a Grade 1 curse half dead already. I think I understand the concept."
Silence stretched again.
Then Ogi chuckled. A dry, humorless sound. "…You really are Naobito's favorite little monster."
He stepped around the desk and walked toward the door. "Fine."
My eyes followed him.
"If you want to learn humility so badly," he said, sliding the door open, "I'll educate you." He stepped into the hallway. "Training courtyard. Five minutes."
Then he left. Alright, let's see if my telekinesis has any combat potential.
