Rodrigo eventually turned his attention toward the operating theatre, where the red light above the doors continued to glow.
"We should return to the waiting area."
Valeria immediately looked toward the theatre. "I don't want to be far away if the doctors come out."
"You won't be," Rodrigo assured her. "The waiting room is only a short distance from here, and someone will come for us as soon as there is an update."
Valeria hesitated, her eyes lingering on the closed theatre doors as though she could somehow see through them. Dario stepped closer and gently touched her arm.
"Come, Mother. You need to sit down."
She finally allowed him to guide her away, although she continued looking back until they had taken several steps down the corridor.
