When Aria Sterling came out of the bathroom, she saw Damian Xavier had already placed the food on the table and set out the bowls and utensils.
The way he sat at the table lacked much of his usual icy demeanor.
His gaze, when it landed on her, held a hint of tenderness.
"Sit down and eat."
This was the luxury hospital suite Damian Xavier had arranged for her, with facilities comparable to a five-star hotel. It had everything one could ask for.
She froze for a moment but did as he said and sat down, though she made a point of keeping her distance.
Damian Xavier saw her deliberately avoid the seat beside him. His brow furrowed, but he didn't seem annoyed.
"Mrs. Shaw made some nourishing chicken soup for you. Have some more." As he spoke, he pushed the bowl of soup he had already ladled out in front of her.
Aria Sterling quietly thanked him, then picked up the bowl and spoon and began to eat.
