I allowed Claudia to really let everything seep into her brain. As long as she didn't suspect me of anything heinous, I'd call that a win.
She let out another deep breath and asked, "Then, let me see Lara. She must've been shaken after what happened today."
Thus, Claudia and I walked into Lara's ward, and the little girl was huddled in her bed. She flicked her head once the door opened, and relaxed after seeing Claudia.
I didn't know how Lara could become so attached to Claudia even though they hadn't met before Aurora's birthday party.
Perhaps Claudia naturally exuded motherly energy that made her popular with children—something that I definitely didn't have.
"A-Aunt Claudia, I—I am sorry…"
"Hush, dear, what are you sorry for?" Claudia said as she sat right next to Lara on the bed and hugged her.
She pulled Lara into her chest, allowing the trembling little girl to cry her heart out as she was relieved of the intimidation from her birth mother.
