"Um… I don't want my room to look like my old room, Aunt…" Lara winced as if she was recalling a bitter memory, something that no six-year-old should've experienced. "My… my room was full of Mommy's things. I have a small bed at the corner…"
"Mommy's things?"
"Mhm, like… jackets, shoes, and uhm… bags!"

I was actually silenced right now, because I realized that Lara was sleeping in a storage room all this time—maybe a wardrobe, if you'd call it that.
I didn't understand Clarissa at all. If she really hated this child, why would she carry her for nine months, and go through painful labor just to abandon her soon after? No wonder Lara never asked for much, because she never got anything decent in her life before.
And Miles…
