The sun was beginning to set as Leo stood by the door, reluctant to leave the warmth of Alex's apartment.
"I should go," he said quietly. "It's getting late."
Alex nodded but didn't move from where he stood, hands in his pockets. "Let me drive you home."
Leo blinked. "What? No, you don't have to—"
"I want to."
"Alex, it's risky. What if someone sees—"
"I'll be careful. Tinted windows, cap pulled low. Same as always." Alex stepped closer. "Please. Let me do this."
Leo hesitated, then nodded. "Okay."
The drive was quiet, comfortable.
Leo sat in the passenger seat, watching the city lights blur past, occasionally glancing at Alex focused on the road, one hand on the wheel, the other resting between them.
Halfway through the drive, Alex's hand shifted, fingers brushing against Leo's.
Leo's breath caught.
Without looking away from the road, Alex laced their fingers together.
Neither of them spoke, but Leo's chest warmed, and he held on tighter.
