Chapter 7: Su Han Is My Pet

"Ah…uuu…"

The girl's fair cheeks burned like fire, her words jumbled, repeatedly apologizing to Su Han.

"S-Sorry… I meant… no, no, I didn't mean it…"

"Alright, alright, don't be so nervous." Su Han spoke softly, comforting her.

Theoretically, neither he nor the girl had done anything wrong—but the girl still apologized to him for forcibly kissing him.

A girl this kind… you could only meet someone like her in another world. If this had been Qingmei instead, she probably would've scheduled me for social death before I even got close.

Paimon wanted a banana, I gave it—that's called a favor. Paimon ate the banana and carelessly tossed the peel, someone stepped on it—that's an accident. So… does this whole thing have anything to do with me? Nope.

Yeah, so I can accept this apology with a clear conscience. Problem? None.

"What's your name? And what exactly do you want to do?" Su Han brushed some weeds off the rabbit-ear accessory on her head.

Amber's face was bright red. She cleared her throat, forcing herself to calm down, and placed her right hand over her chest.

"C-Cough… May the Wind God bless you, strangers."

"I am Amber, a scout knight of the Knights of Favonius."

Paimon's eyes widened in awe: "A tea-serving knight? Whoa, the Knights of Favonius are so fancy—they even have knights to serve tea!"

Lumine groaned quietly: "No, this is so embarrassing…"

Su Han muttered, "The last time I felt this speechless was… well, last time."

Amber glared slightly: "I am a scout knight. Our main duties are scouting military targets, exploring terrain, reporting intelligence to the Knights—not serving tea."

"By the way, you two aren't citizens of Mondstadt, are you? Then please state your identities."

Paimon flailed nervously: "Wait, hold on! We're not suspicious—"

Amber: "Suspicious people always say that. Moreover—"

Paimon: "Moreover?"

Amber: "Who threw the banana peel just now?"

Su Han and Lumine silently pointed at Paimon.

Paimon puffed up proudly: "Yup, that was me!"

Amber sighed, half laughing, half exasperated: "I'm not praising you! Gah… and what is this… mascot thing?"

Lumine: "It's emergency rations."

Paimon stomped her foot in frustration: "No, that's completely wrong! It's way less cool than a mascot!"

Su Han spoke calmly: "I'm Bennett, she's Lumine. I'm just an ordinary adventurer from Mondstadt, and she's a traveler."

Lumine: "?"

Amber's gaze sharpened immediately: "You really think the great scout knight Amber would believe such nonsense?"

Su Han clicked his tongue: "Tch. Actually, my name is Su Han. I'm Bennett's friend."

Lumine: "I really am Lumine, a traveler."

Amber: "Hmph. Until we verify your true identities, you'll need to come with us."

Lumine nodded, discreetly pinching the soft flesh at Su Han's waist.

Su Han: "Hiss—"

Amber: "W-What's wrong?"

Su Han's expression twisted slightly: "It's nothing. I just feel extremely happy knowing I'm traveling with such a beautiful lady."

Paimon: "So Su Han can say nice things too!"

Amber's cheeks burned: "E-Even if you compliment me, I will not neglect my duties."

She straightened up and continued seriously: "Recently, there have been dragons appearing near Mondstadt. This area isn't far from the city, so as a knight, I will escort you for a while."

Paimon: "Huh? Don't you have other tasks outside the city?"

Amber: "Of course I do. But my top priority right now is verifying your identities. I cannot ignore suspicious individuals."

Lumine crossed her arms silently: "That kind of wording is impolite to guests."

Paimon mimicked her: "Exactly, exactly!"

Amber realized her mistake: "Huh… I spoke thoughtlessly. That's not what an excellent knight should say."

"Before verifying your identities, I apologize to you, uh… noble and respected travelers."

Paimon scratched her cheek: "Uh, that was so stiff."

"Are you dissatisfied with the standard phrases in our Knights' Handbook?"

Amber stood tall, hands on her waist, chest slightly rising with the motion, glaring at Paimon.

"Uwaaa—" Paimon yelped and scurried behind Su Han's neck.

---

On the road, Amber and Lumine walked behind, whispering.

Amber: "Uh… should I call you Lumine, or just Traveler?"

Lumine: "Either is fine…"

Amber: "Traveler… what's your relationship with Su… Su Han?"

Lumine hesitated. She glanced at Paimon, then at Su Han.

Paimon was caught by me. Su Han was caught by me.

Because: Paimon = emergency rations = premium seafood = pet;

And: Su Han = Paimon;

So: Su Han = emergency rations = premium seafood = pet.

Lumine said lightly: "He's my pet."

Amber couldn't help but exclaim: "Eh?!"

Su Han: "What's wrong?"

He and Paimon immediately stopped, retreating closer to them—not for safety, but out of concern for their well-being.

Amber waved her hands: "N-No, it's nothing."

After a moment of hesitation, Amber asked again: "Su Han, Traveler said you… are her pet? Is that right?"

Su Han rubbed his chin, pondering.

After a brief pause, he nodded: "Theoretically, Bennett, Paimon, and I all belong to her."

Lumine nodded, satisfied.

Amber felt her worldview being challenged. Are they really this casual about… everything?

Su Han continued: "Because we were all 'caught' by her. But Bennett has already been released, so he doesn't count."

Amber: "Caught… caught?"

She couldn't help but imagine Lumine fishing by the sea, then casting her line and catching two people plus a creature—a buy-two-get-one-free scene.

Shaking her head, she forced that ridiculous image from her mind and laughed quietly at her own naïveté. Surely, this had to be a joke—no one could really mean it.

Amber continued: "By the way, why are you coming to Mondstadt?"

Paimon replied: "She's on a very, very long journey, separated from her brother. Su Han and I are her companions, helping her look for him."

"And the reason for coming to Mondstadt is… to meet the legendary Wind God, Lord Barbatos."

Amber seemed a little disappointed at this answer: "Oh… to reunite with family… huh…"

Sighing, she forced herself to perk up: "Right! Once I finish my task here, I can help you post a notice in the city—"

Shush-shush-shush!

Before she could finish, dozens of arrows flew at them. Fortunately, they dodged in time and were unharmed.

Paimon: "Ah! Hilichurls?! Su Han, are you okay… huh? Where's Su Han?!"

Amber shouted: "He went into the Hilichurl camp?! Hey! That's dangerous—come back!"

While worrying about Su Han, Amber couldn't help but be curious. The Hilichurl camp wasn't too far or too close—how did he get there in the blink of an eye?

[Option 1: Sneak into the Hilichurls' camp and steal their treasure chest. Reward: 50,000 Mora.]

[Option 2: Betray and infiltrate the Hilichurls' group, telling Amber: I am the Hilichurl Judge, the Jury, and the Executioner. Reward: a gourd of apple cider.]

[Option 3: Stand atop the highest point in front of the Hilichurls, attracting their attention, and recite a magnificent poem to intimidate them. Reward: (Medicine) Lv. 1.]

At that moment, Su Han stood on the makeshift watchtower built by the Hilichurls, his back to the restless mob below.

"Grasping sun, moon, and stars, none in this world match me."

Under Amber and Lumine's gaze, Su Han's eyes blazed with heroic ambition, radiating charisma as he slowly recited.

A gentle breeze blew; his white robe fluttered. Standing atop the watchtower, he looked like an immortal descending to the mortal world, every gesture exuding the presence of a true master—if you ignored the wooden crate he was clutching.

Lumine: "…"

Amber: "…"

Paimon: "…"

"Idiot! What are you doing up there? Are you crazy? Come down—it's dangerous!" Amber shouted anxiously.

"Hehe, don't worry. Su Han is hiding his edge—he won't act without confidence."

"Since he's made a move, it means he's about to display a long-lost divine technique." Paimon giggled.

"Can it really be as amazing as he says…" Lumine murmured softly.
