Bellevue Hospital
Early morning, just as the sun started to rise, Jack, who had returned from his trip, came to visit Gwen.
As he was walking towards the area where George was, he noticed a few police officers on duty.
They must be George's comrades, he thought.
As Jack was getting close to George's area, a policeman warned him.
"Kid, that area is off limits to the public."
Hearing this, a few other officers looked over at Jack. One of them had seen George with Jack before, so before Jack could even explain, he let Jack through.
"I know this kid, he was the captain's family friend." Jack smiled at the officer and entered the hospital.
Jack immediately found a few familiar faces there, like Edward and Jean DeWolff, but he first went to Gwen and Helen's side.
Seeing Jack, Gwen hugged him. "How's George?" he asked quietly.
"Nothing life threatening, but he was badly injured."
Jack then spent an hour comforting Gwen and asked Jean and Edward to clearly explain what happened at the scene, since he didn't fully know himself.
Thank god George escaped with his life, Jack thought. He really didn't expect George to encounter the killer alone.
Since the police couldn't capture the Sin-Eater, Jack decided to find him himself, and sooner rather than later.
Since there was nothing more he could do here, he told Gwen to call him if she needed anything and then left.
"Red Queen, did you find the killer?" Jack asked as he was walking outside the hospital.
"Master, that guy escaped from the police yesterday into an area with no cameras. I lost track of him since then, so I couldn't find him," she said in a low mood.
"It's not your fault, so don't be sad." Jack thought for a second and asked, "Do you know where he was last seen?"
Jack decided to use Wildmutt to track him.
"Yes. He abandoned the car and jumped into the sea from a bridge. That's where the police lost track of him."
"Damn it. So Wildmutt can't track his scent now."
Jack really couldn't think of any other idea, so he decided to get the Vibranium from S.H.I.E.L.D. that Nick Fury had promised him — Tony's rescue mission had to come first.
On the rooftop of an old building outside the public area.
"I can trust you, there's 20 grams here, right?" Jack asked Natasha, wearing his plumber suit.
"You can check yourself," she said with a smile.
"I believe you. See you later." He took the suitcase containing the Vibranium and turned to leave.
"Wait, my work isn't over." Hearing that, he looked back at her as she pulled out a file and handed it to him.
After reading it, Jack looked at her.
"Does Nick Fury really think I'll join his team — the Avengers — when I already have my own organization?"
"I don't know. My job is just to deliver the message. You don't have to join right away. Take your time."
Jack hadn't expected Nick to invite him to the Avengers. He really didn't understand that guy's mind at all.
"I have no idea about joining any team right now."
"That's sad. I thought we could be a team," Natasha said with a fake pout.
Suddenly Jack felt an ominous feeling and shoved Natasha to the side.
"What—" Before she could finish, the spot where she had been standing was hit by a spray of bullets. Since Jack had his suit on, it didn't affect him.
Natasha immediately took cover and fired back in the direction the bullets came from.
Jack also spotted where the attackers were and flew towards them.
Suddenly a missile came at him.
"What the—" Jack had to use his energy attack to destroy it, but since it came from close range with no warning, the blast impact still hit him. He was forced down as more missiles kept coming.
As Jack fought back, there seemed to be more than ten guys, all fully armored and carrying different heavy weapons.
On the other side, Natasha was holding her own, but with limited ammo she had to move in closer. She called for backup while pushing forward.
"What the hell." One of the guys fired a gun at Jack. Thinking it wouldn't affect him, Jack didn't bother to shield against it — but the shot made him malfunction.
"Master, that gun seems like a variant of an EMP attack that targets your suit specifically," Red Queen said.
Hearing that, Jack understood. These guys were fully prepared. They were the same type of enemy he had faced before — hard to take down, well coordinated, no wasted movement.
Seeing the attacks keep coming with no time to breathe, Jack activated his Omnitrix and transformed into the first alien on the Omnitrix — Diamondhead.
Seeing Jack transform, one of the guys signaled to the others. One of them pulled out a device and aimed it at Jack.
"What is that?" Jack took down another guy. Only five were left. He used his diamond shards to attack — launching walls of diamond, diamond arrows — but as they got close to the device, something from it hit them and they just disintegrated.
Are my diamonds breaking? Seeing that shocked him, but he pushed through and used his full power.
Natasha reached him and grabbed a gun from one of the attackers who had gone down earlier. Together, they pushed through the remaining enemies and finished the fight.
"Don't kill them. I want to know who they are and why they attacked us," Jack said as Natasha lined up a headshot.
"One guy's still alive," she pointed out.
Jack confirmed the area was clear and no one else was nearby, then undid his transformation.
"Who are you? Why did you attack us?" Jack asked the guy lying on the ground with bullet wounds.
The man looked at Jack, then at Natasha standing nearby with her gun pointed at him.
"Fuck you."
White foam suddenly bubbled from his mouth.
Seeing this, Natasha quickly checked him before looking at Jack.
"He's dead."
"Poison. Looks like they were ready to die rather than get caught," Natasha said.
Looking at the way the man died, Jack suddenly felt it was familiar.
Where have I seen this before?
Then an organization came to his mind.
HYDRA.
