I'm trying to make out silhouettes through the blindfold they put on me. I know it's futile, but a little bit of hope for someone like me might stave off suicide. Even if I could remember the route, I'm far too weak to escape a noble's house.
My whole life, I've been passed from person to person, their own personal slave. Some might pity me, but I still have my grit. The only thing they couldn't beat out of me. Which is also why I keep getting switched to different houses because they can't stand that defiant look of contempt in my eye.
Through the faint murmurs I've heard from my slayers. I hear I'll be brought to some lord who needs a new servant. They say the last boy died a brutal death under this lord. I *sigh. I guess it's another one of these anger management cases. Guess it's a good thing that I'm durable for a 6 year old. For this kind of life, I'm thankful that I was born more Braun than brain. Thinkers tend to die quicker, I just endure.
As I sit there stewing in my thoughts, I fall to the ground as the carriage comes to an abrupt stop. I rolled around, trying to gather myself, but the restraints didn't make it easy. As I came to my senses and gathered my bearings, I heard all the slavers in a panic. Some wanted to fight while others wanted to run. This would be a great time to make a break for it if I wasn't fucking blindfolded.
I stood still trying to figure out what was going on, when I was yanked by my collar and thrown in the dirt. "Please spare us great one, we mean you no harm. Please accept this boy as a sacrifice to appease you my lord." The voice above me said in a pleading tone. I may not be able to see what's happening but this is taking a bad turn for me.
I realize it's do or die time, so I pick a direction that I don't hear a voice from and I run. I almost believe I can taste freedom when I run face first into a tree. These are the moments it would have been better to have less muscle and more brain power, I thought to myself.
Even in their fear I can hear a shaky laugh from the slavers. That laughter was soon replaced by screams, and then a large *BOOOOM*! I try to stagger to my feet, but I drop to my knees as dizziness takes over.
"Sssettle down boy, you're hurt"
I try to slow my breathing, as I listen to the woman's voice. "My child, take a deep breath in 1..2..3 and out." I start to calm down. "Alright boy" she says "im going to remove your blind fold, but I need you to promissse you won't ssscream." I crunch my face in a confused manner and say "why would I scream? Are you ugly or something, cause I don't yell at ugly people that's just rude."
"HAHAHAHA what a funny child you are." I shoot her a confused look and she says "come on kid ssseriously though, promise me." I give her a shrug and say "I promise".
I feel something touch my face and then I'm blinded by light. Only for it to disappear a second later replaced by a towering figure. A snake the size of a mountain stood before me. I wanted to run but knew there was no point, I wanted to scream but I figured it might kill me if I did. So I stood there frozen in fear.
Then the silence was broken "ssso boy am I ugly?" I look at her in utter bewilderment and then I start to laugh. "HAHAHA the prettiest snake I've ever seen, HAHAHAH no wonder you stutter your S'sssss HHAHAHAH." the snake who was caught off guard by the boys reaction, realized she had started to laugh too
As their laughter died down the boy looked at a small crater next to him. "Hey snake lady Is that what's left of the *gulp* slavers."
"Why yesss it isss boy."
"I guess i owe you my thanks then" I said as I rubbed the back of my neck
"No problem, I hate two bit thugsss." she said with disdain
With a growing nervousness I ask her "what happens now, Snake Lady." with a sly smile she says "I'M GONNA EAT YOU!" I yelp "AH SHIT!"
"HAHAHHAAH im fucking with you."
"So not funny, have you seen you"
Suddenly the snake took on a serious expression and said "boy in all ssseriousness, im trapped here on your planet. the detailsss are not important. What you must know is I am in a weakened ssstate, and once I gain my strength back I shall leave." I listened intently and asked "what does this have to do with me?"
She smiled "Well boy, it's been about a millenia since anyone had made me laugh that hard. So I want to take you in as my disssciple." I shot her a look of complete suprise. "Why me?" Is all i could mutter.
"Cause I like you kid. Alssso, I have ssso much time to kill. Might as well ssspend it with a fun perssson."
I found myself speechless. A warmth filled my chest, it felt like nothing I'd ever felt before. I soon felt a tear run down my cheek. "No i don't deserve something like that IM JUST A SLAVE!" The snake frowned and wrapped it tail around me "don't talk about my disssciple like that." tears started to stream down my face and I let them.
I paused between my blubbering "Wait I forgot to introduce myself." I take a bow and say "My name is Moss, and can I ask what your is master?" the snake gave me a perplexed look. "Oohh that'sss complicated, you see i don't really have a name Mosss. Many in other worlds have called me thingsss like Jörmungandr, Apophisss, or Quetzalcoatl. But I've never had a real name, hey how about you give me one?"
"A name huh, I've never done this before. How about…..no….or or or…..no. damn this is hard. Ok so, your a lady, and your a snake, and you do magic and shit. Hmmmm…..GOT IT…LAMIA!"
"Sssoundsss delightful mosss, Lamiasss got a good ring to it"
"Thanks" I said with a blush. "Oh right, Miss Lamia…"
"Jussst Lamia is fine, Mosss"
I blushed even more and said "Lamia, what kind of magic will I learn?"
"Oohh my child, nothing like thisss world hasss ever ssseen, you'll be learning Interssstellar magic."
