Chapter 128, Section 126. The Hogwarts Invisibility Spell
is undoubtedly a magical thing.
In the world of Harry Potter, although it doesn't possess forbidden spells that can destroy cities or have explosive offensive power like other high-magic worlds, each spell here is quite interesting.
Compared to others, the effects of these spells seem more in line with human development, with most focused on facilitating daily life.
The few offensive spells mostly only have single-target effects. Rather than intentionally harming others, the invention of these spells seems more like a matter of self-preservation, which precisely reflects the survival conditions of ancient wizards who lived in hiding.
In his first year, Lynn learned many dark spells under Professor Fawkes in order to learn dark magic.
These spells are mostly used to embarrass others; aside from the highest-level curses, poison and evil curses cause very little harm.
So, even after entering his second year, despite his daily dedication to studying the spread of dark magic and refining the Imperishable Charm, Lynn never stopped learning various spells.
For example, among the pile of spellbooks sent by Abros, Lynn discovered a very interesting spell:
the Disappearance Charm.
In the wizarding world, if you want to become invisible, you have two options: buy an invisibility cloak or learn the Disappearance Charm.
Lynn became extremely interested in this spell.
What boy could resist the temptation of invisibility, time-stopping abilities, and X-ray vision?
The Illusion Charm's effect isn't complete invisibility; it's more like giving a person or object a chameleon-like skin. In well-lit areas, its invisibility is very limited, meaning that any movement will be detected by a careful observer.
The most effective invisibility cloak undoubtedly belongs to the Invisibility Cloak, one of the Three Deadly Holy Relics in Harry Potter's possession.
However, that Invisibility Cloak belongs to Potter, not Belloc.
As for the common invisibility cloaks sold on the market, they are either made by applying an Illusion Charm to the cloak or by using the fur of an Invisibility Beast; their effectiveness is generally mediocre.
However, if the user of the Illusion Charm is highly skilled, they can achieve complete invisibility, like Dumbledore.
He liked to use the Illusion Charm to become invisible and then spy on Harry.
Lynn didn't have such a perverse hobby; he simply wanted to experience the feeling of invisibility.
Yes, that's all.
Driven by this simple idea, he devoted almost all his free time, except for practicing the modified Soul Seal Charm with Cedric and the others, to practicing the Disappearance Charm.
This charm was quite difficult, but Lynn's magical talent was extraordinary, and his magic power was even higher than that of an adult wizard.
Thus, in just two days, he had essentially mastered the Disappearance Charm.
Lynn picked up the teacup he had cast the Disappearance Charm on. The invisibility effect was indeed very poor; when he picked the cup up from the table, the color changes were still quite noticeable.
It certainly couldn't be used during the day, but at night in poor lighting, if he crept into the shadows of a corner, unless someone was constantly watching him, he wouldn't be easily discovered.
Just like a couch potato getting his hands on a PS5 for the first time, Lynn cast a Disillusionment Charm on himself that evening, preparing to go for a stroll outside.
It was only a little past seven in the evening, and it was already dark. The candles in the castle were already lit automatically, but curfew hadn't started yet. The young wizards who had just finished dinner were still running around the castle corridors, while the quiet ones were playing wizard chess with their friends on the benches in the common room.
Lynn had just sneaked out of his dormitory to the Slytherin common room when he ran into Malfoy and his gang.
He was almost inseparable from his two henchmen, Goyle and Crabbe. The three of them had occupied the bench near the fireplace and were talking excitedly about something.
"...Yes! That's right, that's how we're going to deal with Potter! Not just him, but also his two henchmen, Poor Weasley and Mudseed Glenn."
Malfoy gesticulated wildly as
he spoke. Lynn, hearing this, frowned immediately, clearly displeased.
He crept up to Malfoy, pulled out his wand, pointed it at him, and whispered rapidly,
"Tooths like clubs, scorching hot, horns on head."
Dark spells were Lynn's forte; he spoke them incredibly fast, his pronunciation exceptionally clear, unleashing three poisonous spells in quick succession in less than two seconds.
Suddenly, the previously exuberant Malfoy's teeth grew longer, horns sprouted from his head, and his body was covered in red bumps.
Malfoy was stunned, as were Goyle and Crabbe.
"Aaaaaah! A monster!!!"
The Slytherin girls sitting there were terrified by the sight. They screamed, covered their eyes, and fled from the common room.
"%#@?*/~!"
Malfoy uttered a string of incomprehensible words in terror. His front teeth had grown out of his mouth; it would be strange if he could speak clearly.
Goyle and Crabbe jumped up from their chairs in a panic. They tried to find the culprit, but all the other wizards had run away in fear. Who else could they be?
Malfoy grabbed Goyle's arm and babbled on and on incomprehensibly.
"%#*@#?!"
Goyle and the others scratched their heads, trying to figure out what Malfoy was saying.
The young master was almost in tears. He grabbed Crabbe's school robe, covered his face with it, and ran out of the Slytherin common room.
His two dimwitted henchmen finally realized that Malfoy wanted them to take him to the school infirmary.
No sooner had they left than Lynn followed them out of the common room.
He watched the three of them go, curling his lip in disdain.
What a bunch of annoying brats.
Not lingering in front of the Slytherin common room, Lynn, like a ghost, wandered the castle, pressed against the wall where candles hung.
Climbing from the basement to the second floor, he crouched low, hugging the wall as he turned a corner, and saw Peeves using moldy bread stolen from the kitchen as a weapon to bombard a group of disheveled young wizards.
Suddenly, Peeves, laughing wildly, felt a chill run down his spine; a feeling of being watched by a demon from the abyss washed over him.
He looked around frantically, but couldn't find the man he could never forget.
He frantically searched for a long time, but still couldn't find the demonic figure.
But Pipi was still frightened; he threw the bread on the ground and hurriedly floated away.
At my age, in my early twenties, I think I'm starting to go bald… My roommates have been teasing me all day, but I'm not losing hair!!!
