Chapter 26 - the right girl

Chapter 25

The Girl I Didn't Know I Was Looking For

(Serina's POV)

I've always believed one thing.

Choosing a daughter-in-law…

Is not about wealth.

Not about status.

Not about beauty alone.

It's about qualities.

Real ones.

The kind that don't fade.

The kind that don't pretend.

And over the years…

I fixed five of them in my mind.

Five things I would never compromise on.

Today…

I wasn't looking for anything.

Just groceries.

A normal day.

Or so I thought.

I was standing near the shelf.

Trying to reach something.

It was slightly out of my reach.

I tried again.

Still couldn't get it.

Before I could ask for help—

"Excuse me…"

A soft voice.

I turned.

A girl.

Simple.

Calm.

No rush.

No attitude.

"Do you need help?" she asked.

I nodded.

She reached up easily.

Took the item.

And handed it to me.

"Here."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

She smiled slightly.

And turned to leave.

No waiting.

No expectation.

That was the first thing I noticed.

Kindness.

Not loud.

Not forced.

Just natural.

She didn't do it to impress.

She did it because she wanted to.

Before I could move—

My bag slipped.

Things almost fell.

But she caught it instantly.

"Careful…"

Her voice…

soft.

Concerned.

Real.

I looked at her again.

This time…

more closely.

Care.

Not fake.

Not delayed.

Immediate.

Like it mattered.

Like I mattered.

"You're very kind," I said.

She smiled.

"It's okay."

No pride.

No showing off.

Just simplicity.

Simplicity.

That's rare.

Very rare.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Jay."

She said it simply.

No hesitation.

No drama.

Just herself.

"I'm Serina."

She didn't react.

Didn't try to impress.

Didn't change her tone.

"Nice to meet you."

Respectful.

Balanced.

Respect.

Not overdone.

Not forced.

Just… right.

"Do you live nearby?" I asked.

"Yes."

Short answers.

Clear.

No unnecessary talk.

But not rude either.

I've seen many girls.

Many families.

Many faces.

But something about her…

Stayed.

"There are very few like you," I said.

She looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

I smiled slightly.

"Kindness like this… is rare."

She didn't react much.

Just said—

"Thank you."

And that's when I knew.

A good heart.

The last one.

The most important one.

Something you can't teach.

Something you can't fake.

Something you can only feel.

And I felt it.

Clearly.

Strongly.

She left.

Just like that.

But her presence…

Didn't.

On the way back—

I kept thinking.

About her.

About the way she spoke.

The way she helped.

The way she didn't try to be anything more than herself.

"If I ever had to choose…"

I whispered to myself.

"…someone like her."

I didn't know who she was.

I didn't know her family.

I didn't know her story.

But I knew one thing.

She had all five qualities.

Without trying.

Without knowing.

And that's what made her different.

Sometimes…

Life shows you something important.

Before you even realize why.

And that girl…

Jay…

Felt like one of those moments.

I didn't know then…

How deeply she was already connected to my life.

How close she already was.

Or how complicated everything would become…

When I find out the truth.

Because if she fits perfectly…

Then the real question is—

Will the situation allow it?

Or break it?

To be continued… 😏💔
