Julian Bennett was so loud on the phone that Zoe Rhodes instinctively glanced at Nathan Bennett, who was eating elegantly across from her.
Noticing her gaze, the man paused and looked over at her. His dark eyes, framed by his glasses, met hers with a subtle, questioning look.
Zoe Rhodes's lips parted, but she instinctively covered her phone and gave him a small nod. "Excuse me, I'm going to use the restroom."
"Of course," Nathan Bennett said with a smile.
She was wearing her long hair down today. In her haste, her walk broke into a run. Her hair swayed against her slender waist with every step, like the long ears of a lop-eared rabbit, making her incredibly conspicuous.
Nathan Bennett only withdrew his gaze, a hint of regret in his eyes, once her figure had disappeared around the corner.
He'd lost his appetite. Picking up his phone from the table, he pulled up the surveillance footage from his study.
