A loud yell sounded in the classroom.
Every student in the class turned to see a tall youth standing at the entrance.
He had wild yellow hair and a handsome face. His pale-blue eyes blinked with uncontrollable rage.
"How dare you seduce the princess with your foul words!" The boy walked up to Kai and slammed his fist on his desk.
At the same time he shouted in Kai's face.
"..."
Silent, Kai just looked at him.
He then turned his gaze at Abigail to see she silently escaped to her seat.
She whistled a tune when she noticed him looking at her.
What a little girl. Testing you will be her biggest mistake! Ryker stated while eating imaginary popcorn.
"Who gave you permission to look at the princess?!" Provoked by Kai's silent attitude, he raised his hand in a slapping motion.
"You dare?" Kai questioned, his eyes furrowed into a deep, bone-chilling stare.
The boy's hand that was ready to deliver paused with a trembling shakiness.
His eyes filled with anger quickly cowered into fear.
The class, seeing this, started whispering.
"That's Kai for you."
"This guy must be new. Anyone who messes with Kai always ends up miserable."
"Does he not know who his father is?"
The boy, hearing all the whispering, felt humiliated, his eyes quickly became angry again as his pride wavered.
At that moment, a girl with light-blonde hair and a cute face walked in.
She shook her head before raising her voice at the students.
"Then you must not know who our uncle is." She stated before walking up to the yellow-haired youth who had no clue what to do.
"Joseph Maxfield, Robert Fleming's greatest rival." She exclaimed for all to hear.
The crowd immediately went wild.
"Maxfield... that Maxfield Family?!"
"I heard from my mom that they are a part of the top hundred families in the world!"
"Not just the top hundred, but top fifty! They are actually #31!"
"They also have the support of the Maximus Family..."
"The Flemings aren't even in the top hundred, they cannot touch the Maxfield's!"
"To think our school would be able to accept someone with such a background!"
Kai heard all of that and couldn't care less.
So what if they are filthy rich? Even the rich can't escape these hands! Ryker laughed maniacally as he punched his fist out while thinking of slamming them in the yellow-haired youth's handsome face.
Indeed, but I would rather avoid unnecessary trouble if I can. Kai agreed while looking at the light-blonde hair girl.
She was cute alright, but that was it. She couldn't compare to Abigail, neither in the looks department nor figure.
Speaking of, that guy called Abigail a Princess. He thought as he checked the light-haired girl from top to bottom.
He spotted some very faint weak points but there was one that stuck out like a sore thumb that made him look at her weirdly.
His strange expression directed at her made the Maxfield girl confused.
"You're not afraid?" She asked.
Kai felt like he heard the biggest joke since returning from the games.
"A little family like the Maxfield's doesn't faze me."
The yellow-haired youth, who just got back his confidence anger flared again.
"A little Fleming who doesn't know how high the heavens are—!"
"Heavens?" Kai truly felt like this was a joke as he continued, "compared to the heavens your family is as insignificant as the dust around us."
His response immediately got the class excited as they never expected to hear the usually quiet Kai speak such heart-wrecking words.
Heh, look at them. Acting like fools when you're basically speaking the truth. Ryker chuckled as he recalled The Pack Games and how high the Aces are viewed.
Kai shook his head. Can we blame them? We are the only humans who even know of the existence of the Aces.
The Maxfield boy, seeing himself constantly losing face, was about to go crazy when the Maxfield girl stopped him.
"I agree, please ignore my foolish brother. However, what makes you so confident in challenging our family?"
"Money? Fame? Influence? Whatever you have, we have even more."
She's twisting your words!
Kai noticed this too and calmly whispered, "challenge? Why would I challenge you when I can simply make you disappear."
"..."
The Maxfield girl went quiet. She found Kai's words laughable, but when she saw his calm composure and looked into his dull eyes she felt goosebumps moving all over her body.
The boy felt even worse. He had seen things far worse than your average human.
Which was why he was so confident early.
However, Kai was constantly giving him the feeling that his life was already in the palm of his hands.
The only person who had made him feel that way was his uncle, Joseph Maxfield.
Kai was the second.
Abigail, on the other hand, was shocked by what was going down. She sat just in front of Kai so she heard what he said even though he was whispering.
Is that the same Kai I know? She wondered, not expecting her little teasing to go this far.
A fourth person also heard Kai and he stared at him deeply in thought.
No one else heard Kai. When the students saw the two Maxfield youths not saying anything they began questioning what happened.
As the tension was beginning to rise even further the classroom was opened.
"I hope y'all brats are ready for your monthly exams." A teacher walked in with a stick in his mouth.
"Huh?" He looked at Kai's desk and snorted coldly.
"The hell are you kids doing? And who are you two? Class is in session!" He shouted, breaking the Maxfield's out of their daze.
The two gave Kai a glare before turning to the teacher with a bow.
"Apologies teacher, we will take our leave now." The girl said before scurrying out of the classroom.
The teacher stared at the two coldly as he watched them leave.
"Damn brats." He stated before slamming a thick stack of papers on his desk.
"Abigail brat come pass these around. Hopefully your little husband can get better than a zero." He called over while joking.
The class laughed at his remark.
Abigail blushed as she walked over before handing over the sheet of paper.
She soon arrived at Kai's desk and saw him not being bothered at all by the teacher's comment.
She made a huff before giving him an angry stare.
Kai as usual, ignored her.
He instead put his attention on the stack of papers and thought, I wonder how quickly I can finish this test with Parallel Madness?
My little brother is a madman... Ryker sighed at Kai's madness.
Kai ignored him too, his full attention on figuring out how long it would take to finish the test.
I bet ten minutes. He exclaimed as he picked up his pen.
"Begin!" At the same time, the teacher shouted.
Nine minutes later Kai put down his pen with a satisfied look.
590 seconds, not bad. He said before getting into a sleeping position.
He deactivated Parallel Madness at the same time.
The test was an hour long so he had nothing to do for the next fifty minutes.
He simply closed his eyes while thinking about his plans for the games.
The teacher didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he saw this.
Child I don't know if it's your fortune or if it's your misfortune to be born a Flemings. The teacher sighed as he chose to ignore Kai.
Fifty minutes passed and the bell rang. Another teacher entered the class and called Abigail to hand around the test.
She approached Kai again and saw him still ignoring her.
She started gritting her teeth.
500 seconds this time. Seems like the more I use this ability the more control I gain over it. Kai thought, finishing the test in a little over 8 minutes.
The bell rang again and it was lunch time.
"Kai~ Let's eat together!" Abigail approached Kai with a warm smile.
Kai raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you gritting your teeth an hour ago? I bet you were cursing my name with many foul words."
Her smile grew longer as she replied, "I was~ But it's not what you think."
She said in a naughty, teasing manner that made Kai not want to know more.
"I decline your offer." Instead, he rejected her invitation.
He reached into his pockets and hummed.
Those bastards didn't give me any money. He said to himself as he thought about his careless parents.
Haha! You should know by now you can't depend on them! Ryker laughed at Kai's misfortune.
This is your fault. If you didn't spend all my money on some club girl this would never happen. Kai scolded.
Aren't you supposed to be super smart? Just go find a way to make your own money!
Go jump off a roof or something.
Wishing death onto a dead person is always funny little bro, keep the dark jokes coming!
Kai hummed again as he turned back to Abigail.
I could starve myself for the next 3 hours, but it would affect Parallel Madness to the point that I might even vomit. He concluded before opening his mouth.
"Can you buy me an extra lunch." He asked without a shred of embarrassment.
"I will give you back your money. Take it as me borrowing from you."
Abigail, who heard this, couldn't believe it.
She immediately put on a cunning look as she made a request.
"If you go on a date with me this—"
"Deal." Kai immediately agreed.
Abigail was shocked by his quick response but inside she felt like she was dreaming.
She was so happy she felt like screaming.
She puffed out her chest.
"You don't have to worry about lunch! I carried an extra lunch made by your one and only wife just in case a situation like this happens!"
"You're not my wife." Kai stated before leaving the class towards the lunch room.
"Soon to be wife!" Abigail wasn't dejected at all by his refusal to submit to her.
Kai hummed again.
I'm not letting some stupid hunger get in between me and my experiment. He said to himself knowing he had to be better for the next games in ten days.
He once more hummed as his eyes showed great annoyance at two approaching students.
These Maxfield dummies are like two pesty NPCs. Ryker muttered as the two approached Kai, the yellow-haired youth cracking his fist at him as if ready for a fight.
