Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 5:HIDDEN STRENGTHS

The valley was not as peaceful as it looked.

As Lira followed Ronan deeper into the territory, she could feel it the tension in the air, the unseen eyes watching from every corner.

"This place…" she murmured.

"Is full of danger," Ronan finished. "Stay alert."

Lira didn't respond.

She was already aware.

Every movement.

Every breath.

Every presence hidden in the shadows.

They walked in silence for a while until they reached a small clearing. Worn-out tents stood around, and a weak fire burned at the center.

A rogue camp.

Not large.

Not organized.

But dangerous enough.

The moment they stepped in,

All eyes turned to them.

Suspicion.

Hostility.

A few wolves growled lowly.

"Ronan," one of them called out. "You brought a stranger?"

Ronan didn't stop walking. "She's with me."

That didn't settle them.

A tall, scarred man stepped forward, blocking their path.

"And since when do you bring outsiders here?" he asked coldly.

Ronan's jaw tightened. "Since I decide to."

The man's gaze shifted to Lira.

He scanned her from head to toe… unimpressed.

"She doesn't look like much."

Lira said nothing.

But her eyes… flickered.

Silver.

Brief.

Deadly.

The man didn't notice.

But Ronan did.

And for a second,

Even he felt uneasy.

"She's not here to fight," Ronan added.

The man scoffed. "Then she's useless."

That was the wrong thing to say.

Lira stepped forward slowly.

Calm.

Controlled.

But something about her presence changed the air completely.

"Say that again," she said quietly.

The man smirked, clearly amused.

"I said she's use,"

He didn't finish.

Because suddenly,

He couldn't breathe.

His eyes widened as his body froze in place.

An invisible force wrapped around his throat.

Lifting him slightly off the ground.

The entire camp went silent.

"What,what is this?!" someone shouted.

Ronan's eyes locked on Lira.

She hadn't moved.

Not even a finger.

Her expression remained calm… almost bored.

"You speak too much," she said softly.

The man struggled, gasping for air, his feet kicking helplessly.

Panic spread across the camp.

"Let him go!" another rogue yelled.

Lira's gaze slowly swept across them.

"And if I don't?"

No one answered.

Because deep down,

They already knew.

They couldn't stop her.

The pressure tightened slightly.

The man's struggling weakened.

Then,

Lira exhaled.

And lowered her gaze.

"Learn respect."

Instantly,

The invisible force disappeared.

The man dropped to the ground, coughing violently, clutching his throat.

No one moved.

No one dared to.

Fear had settled in.

Heavy.

Real.

Lira turned away like nothing happened.

"Pathetic," she muttered under her breath.

Ronan stared at her.

Not with fear.

But something else.

Realization.

"You…" he said quietly, stepping closer. "You're not just strong."

Lira glanced at him.

"I never said I was weak."

Ronan let out a low breath, running a hand through his hair.

"You could've killed him."

"I know."

"Then why didn't you?"

Lira looked toward the frightened rogues.

Then back at Ronan.

"Because I don't waste power on the unworthy."

A silence followed.

Then,

Unexpectedly,

One of the rogues dropped to his knee.

"I… apologize," he said quickly.

Another followed.

Then another.

Within seconds,

Half the camp had lowered their heads.

Submitting.

Not to fear alone,

But to power they didn't understand.

Ronan watched it happen.

Slowly shaking his head in disbelief.

"You just walked in here…" he said.

"And took control without even trying."

Lira's expression remained calm.

"I'm not here to control anyone."

She turned slightly, her silver eyes glowing faintly again.

"But I won't be disrespected."

The message was clear.

And no one dared to challenge it again.

Ronan let out a small, impressed laugh.

"Remind me never to get on your bad side."

Lira smirked faintly.

"That would be wise."

For the first time,

The camp felt different.

Not chaotic.

Not dominant.

But… ordered.

Like something greater had just stepped in.

And whether they liked it or not,

They had all felt it.

The rise of someone far beyond them.

As the fire crackled quietly in the center of the camp, Ronan glanced at Lira once more.

"You're hiding something," he said.

Lira didn't deny it.

Instead, she looked up at the sky, where the fading moon was still visible.

"Not hiding," she replied softly.

"Becoming."

And in that moment,

Ronan understood one thing clearly.

Lira wasn't just passing through his life.

She was the beginning of something much bigger.

Something that would shake every pack…

Every Alpha…

Every rule that had ever existed.
