Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 4:THE FIRST ALLY

Dawn was approaching.

The sky slowly shifted from deep black to a soft grey as Lira stepped out of the forest and onto unfamiliar land.

A border.

She could feel it immediately.

"This is not your former pack's territory," the voice within her said.

Lira nodded slightly. "Good."

Ahead of her lay a quiet valley, surrounded by hills and guarded by tall trees. But something was off.

Too quiet.

Too still.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Someone is here."

Before she could move,

A sharp sound cut through the air.

Whoosh!

An arrow flew straight toward her.

Lira didn't flinch.

She raised two fingers calmly,

And the arrow stopped mid-air.

Floating.

Frozen.

Her silver eyes glowed faintly as she tilted her head.

"Come out," she said.

Silence.

Then,

From behind the trees, a figure stepped forward slowly.

A man.

Tall.

Rugged.

His body tense, eyes sharp with caution.

Ronan lowered his bow slightly, but didn't relax.

"Not many can stop an arrow without touching it," he said.

Lira released the arrow. It dropped harmlessly to the ground.

"And not many attack without asking questions first," she replied calmly.

Ronan studied her carefully.

His gaze lingered on her glowing eyes.

Then his expression shifted,just slightly.

Recognition.

Or something close to it.

"You're not ordinary," he said.

"That depends on what you consider ordinary."

A brief silence passed between them.

The wind moved softly around Lira, but around Ronan,it stayed still.

As if testing him.

"Who are you?" he asked.

Lira held his gaze.

"I'm someone who no longer belongs anywhere."

Ronan frowned slightly. "That's not an answer."

Lira stepped closer.

Not threatening.

But confident.

"Then ask a better question."

For a moment, tension filled the space between them.

Ronan's grip on his bow tightened… then slowly loosened.

"You crossed into dangerous land," he said. "Rogues control this area. They don't show mercy."

Lira's lips curved faintly.

"Neither do I."

That caught his attention.

A flicker of interest passed through his eyes.

"You don't look like a rogue," he said.

"I'm not."

"Then what are you?"

Lira paused.

The question lingered.

Then she answered,quietly, but firmly.

"Someone returning."

The air shifted.

Ronan felt it.

That same strange pressure.

The same unseen force that whispered one clear thing,

She is not to be underestimated.

He exhaled slowly.

"Ronan," he said finally. "That's my name."

Lira nodded once. "Lira."

Another silence.

But this one felt different.

Less hostile.

More… curious.

Ronan glanced toward the valley behind him, then back at her.

"You shouldn't stay out here alone," he said. "Not unless you're looking for trouble."

Lira raised a brow slightly.

"What if trouble is looking for me?"

Ronan smirked faintly.

"Then it's already found you."

For the first time,

A small, genuine smile touched Lira's lips.

Not cold.

Not dangerous.

Just… real.

"Maybe that's what I need," she said.

Ronan studied her again.

Longer this time.

As if trying to understand her… and failing.

"You're strange," he said.

"I've been called worse."

He hesitated.

Then finally

"If you're not lying… if you really have nowhere to go…" he said slowly, "then come with me."

Lira's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Why?"

Ronan shrugged lightly.

"Call it instinct."

The wind around Lira stirred again gentle this time.

Approving.

She looked at him for a moment… then past him… toward the unknown land ahead.

A new path.

A new beginning.

And maybe,

Her first step toward something greater.

"Fine," she said at last.

Ronan nodded once, turning away.

"Stay close."

Lira followed.

Not as someone seeking protection,

But as someone choosing her next move carefully.

As they walked into the valley together, the sun began to rise.

And with it,

A new chapter of her life unfolded.

Behind her past…

Ahead of her destiny…

And beside her,

The first ally of the Moon Goddess
