I slowly opened the cafe door as I entered.
Before entering I crosschecked if there were still recruitments available.
And as expected, they were still there.
The moment I opened the door, the bell at the top rebounded as the person standing at the counter greeted me with a smile
"Welcome."
"Hello, Regarding the recruitment poster at the front."
"Have you come for a part time job here?"
"Yes."
I said and the women at the counter.
"Please sit at the room over there, the director will take your interview."
"Yes. Thank you."
I said as I walked towards the door.
I opened it and saw some chairs and a table with various equipment, which seemed relatively new.
After I sat down and looked around for about 10 minutes.
The door creaked open and a clear sweet voice cane from the other end.
"Are you the one looking for a job here?"
She asked.
"Yes, Hello My name is Vade Albin."
I said as I loomed at the women and I gasped in shock when I saw the person who was presumably the director of this place.
"Boss?"
I reflexively said.
"Vade..."
Short black hair, a stylish appearence, And a blazer with a somewhat expensive bag to carry.
She really had the demignour of a boss that had multiple cafes under her.
She was the director of the cafe that I worked fir previously.
"Well sit down for now."
She said, as she sighed a bit.
After which she looked extremely serious and took an interview for half an hour.
"Well, that's about it for the interview."
After which she started blankly at me.
"..."
I did not say anything and waited for her reply.
"You are hired."
She said, with a beaming smile on her face.
I who was stiff the whole time finally eased up at her smile that was as bright as the sun.
Man, that scared me.
But this is who she really was.
A cheerful business women who had a lot of cafes under her name.
And she seemed to have opened another one.
Her name is Audery Miller.
An unmarried women in her late 30's.
She in essence is a free spirit who does whatever she pleases.
"Thank you, I really needed this job boss."
I said, Easing up a bit.
She suddenly got serious again.
"What did I tell you? Never let the owner know that you are desperate for the job. They'll end up exploiting you."
"Yes boss."
She soon eased up.
"Anyway, it seems like you are back to normal. Did you sort out your things?"
"Well, somewhat. I'm trying not to let it get to me."
"Well that's good... so!"
Her voice raised at the so, as she started at me again, a bit angry this time.
"..."
"Why... didn't you come to my office and instead came to a new cafe? I told you to come back after you have sorted out your shit didn't I?"
"... I... I thought I'd just bother you by coming back."
"I clearly told you that you were far too good of an asset for a company like mine to lose and yet.. you go about cheating on my back?"
"..."
Calling it cheating.. isn't it going too far?
"Well, fate works in weird ways doesn't it? I needed a capable man like you for my new cafe and here we are, with you right in front of me."
She sure is glazing me alot for someone who kicked me out when I wasn't doing well...
But we'll, she kept me for 3 months after the ordeal and I was nothing more than a liability in those 3 months to her.
"Well, when would you like to start? I pay based on weekly basis, I'm sure you already know how my company works. The hourly wage is slightly lower than your prev job since that cafe was quite famous and this one is just starting off. Maybe if the company dies Well, I'll raise your salary. Or you can come back to the old cafe and you get the same salary."
She gave me a very tempting offer but I remembered someone who lived close to the cafe and that was the reason why I chose that one.
I always ran into her whenever I worked there and I Don't want to... see her again outside school if possible.
Also, that cafe has a lot of beautiful women.
I wouldn't want to go back there at my current state where even the slightest closeness gets my heart racing.
I'm in a sort of a vulnerable state.
"I'm fine working here."
Even if the wages are low, they probably aren't so bad that it'd cause problems for us.
But, I was soon startled by the hourly wages.
It was way more than I'd expected.
She said that the work was as big as the cash was so I was quite glad that there was barely any difference.
She also stated that there was another director who was apparently the daughter of the richest Businessman in the state.
So she said that I should behave pro03rly with her.
She doesn't show up alot but she does show up once a month or so.
And tomorrow was supposedly one of those days.
After I came back home from the interview, I saw my mother resting in her room.
I decided to prepare lunch today even though it was my sister's turn.
Because I was happy to know that my mother wouldn't have to wreck her brain to work the late night shift.
After preparing lunch, the both of them got up and walked towards the dining table.
Probably woke up from the whiff of food.
"Hey brother, It was my turn today right? Why did you strain yourself today. You should have woken me up."
"It's fine, it's fine. Come on sit and have lunch."
"Ooh, you made lunch today? I'm looking forward to what you made."
My mother said as she rubbed her eyes.
She didn't have the usual part time work today.
It was a holiday today since it was a Saturday, so she only had the morning work and the late night one.
After they both had their lunch, my sister did the cleaning up while I sat on the sofa as I finally took my rest.
My mother was looking at the bills and sighing alot.
I got up and went towards my mom.
"Mom."
"Hmm? What is it son?"
"I got a part time job."
"Bro what? Seriously?"
My sister jumped up at my declaration and my mother who looked somewhat pale before seemed to have eased up a bit
"I see, That's good to hear. Just don't strain yourself."
She said with a smile on her face but I knew that she must be really glad that I got out of my problems and finally decided to take a part time job again.
And so, I was slowly but surely getting out of that shell called Milia that has been plaguing me since that day she accused me of being her stalker.
The day my childhood friend accused me of being her stalker.
