Chapter 79 - Chapter 79 – The Snow Mecha War

Professor Sprout frowned the moment she heard Draco's terrified cries.

Concern immediately filled her expression as she strode toward the violently writhing Devil's Snare.

Her wand snapped upward.

"Lumos Solem!"

A burst of brilliant sunlight erupted from the tip of her wand.

Warm golden radiance flooded the greenhouse.

The Devil's Snare recoiled instantly.

Its vines writhed violently as though burned.

"Draco!" Leo shouted sharply.

"Stop struggling!"

His voice carried unusual authority.

Draco, who had been panicking wildly moments earlier, froze instinctively.

Seeing him finally stop resisting, Professor Sprout maintained the spell while the Devil's Snare slowly loosened its grip.

The vines withdrew one by one.

Like retreating serpents.

A second later—

Thud.

Draco dropped unceremoniously into the mud.

Professor Sprout finally exhaled in relief.

Then she looked sternly at Draco.

And at Leo.

"You must never lower your guard around magical plants."

Her expression remained serious.

"Especially Devil's Snare."

Then her gaze shifted toward Leo.

"Fortunately, Leo reacted quickly."

She nodded approvingly.

"Otherwise the consequences might have been far more severe."

Leo crouched beside Draco helplessly.

"You were way too reckless."

His tone carried obvious reproach.

But there was concern underneath.

He patted Draco's shoulder.

Draco scratched awkwardly at his hair.

"…I know."

His ears turned slightly red.

"I won't do it again."

After Draco's unfortunate demonstration, the remainder of Herbology passed with extreme caution.

Thankfully, aside from Draco slipping into a patch of mud and landing flat on his backside, nobody caused any additional disasters.

Time passed quickly.

By afternoon, Leo, Draco, Charlotte, Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle arrived at the snowy field beside the Black Lake.

Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville were already waiting.

Earlier at lunch, everyone had enthusiastically agreed to hold a snowball fight after classes ended.

Now the lakeside field had transformed into a winter wonderland.

Snowflakes drifted through the air.

Laughter echoed endlessly across the white landscape.

Harry and the others were already running through the snow, throwing snowballs without restraint.

Draco watched with complete disdain.

"Hmph."

He folded his arms.

"Childish."

Even so—

His eyes never left the battlefield.

Charlotte rolled her eyes.

"Then don't play, Mr Malfoy."

Before Draco could respond, she ran toward Hermione and the others.

Leo smiled faintly.

Back in his previous life, growing up in the south meant he rarely saw snow.

But since arriving in this world, he had discovered that snowball fights were genuinely enjoyable.

"Harry!"

Leo scooped up a handful of snow.

Rolled it into a ball.

And launched it.

Harry laughed.

"You can't hit me!"

He dodged.

Then immediately retaliated.

Both snowballs missed.

Unfortunately—

Harry's flew directly into Draco.

Smack.

Snow exploded across Draco's chest.

The blond boy froze.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

His face turned bright red.

"You dare hit me?!"

His pride immediately overpowered his hesitation.

Draco grabbed a handful of snow and fired back.

Soon Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle joined the battle.

At first it remained relatively normal.

Simple snowballs.

Simple throwing.

Simple chaos.

Then Leo had a thought.

This was a magical world.

Why were they still playing ordinary snowball fights?

He raised his wand.

"Wingardium Leviosa."

A snowball floated into the air.

Then shot toward Ron like a cannonball.

Ron yelped.

"Hey!"

"That's cheating!"

Hermione's eyes lit up immediately.

Several snowballs transformed into tiny white birds.

They swarmed directly toward Draco.

Clearly, she had not forgotten her longstanding dislike of his arrogance.

Draco barely dodged.

"You're using magic too!"

Even while complaining, he began levitating snowballs of his own.

Soon magical artillery filled the battlefield.

Snowballs streaked through the air from every direction.

Harry and Ron began using Shield Charms.

Neville accidentally detonated an entire pile of snow on himself.

Pansy ended up buried waist-deep in a drift.

Charlotte laughed so hard she nearly dropped her wand.

Meanwhile, Leo became increasingly enthusiastic.

He extended both hands.

The surrounding snow immediately surged toward him.

More.

And more.

And more.

Soon a miniature blizzard spiralled around him.

Everyone gradually stopped fighting.

Then stared.

The snow rapidly compressed.

Reshaped.

Expanded.

An enormous structure rose from the ground.

"What... is that?" Harry muttered.

A gigantic white excavator stood before them.

Its massive shovel gleamed beneath the winter sunlight.

Snow constantly slid from its towering frame.

Leo casually sat atop the machine's arm like a victorious commander.

The others erupted instantly.

"That's completely unfair!" Hermione protested.

"Cheating!" Draco shouted.

Leo grinned.

"Fine."

He jumped down.

"You lot can use this one."

The moment he gave permission, everyone rushed toward the snow excavator.

Even Draco forgot to maintain his dignity.

Ron stared suspiciously at Leo.

"Then what are you using?"

Leo smiled mysteriously.

"Oh, nothing special."

He raised a finger.

"I'll just use a little robot."

Everyone relaxed.

Even Hermione sighed in relief.

Then—

The surrounding snow began moving again.

The ground trembled.

A gigantic humanoid figure slowly rose behind Leo.

Its enormous body towered over the battlefield.

Snow and ice cascaded from massive armour plates.

Two glowing blue eyes illuminated beneath a helmet-like head.

The "little robot" stood nearly as tall as the excavator.

Everyone froze.

Harry's jaw dropped.

"…That's small?"

Draco looked horrified.

"This is ridiculous!"

Even Hermione stood speechless.

Leo casually stood atop the giant snow mecha's shoulder.

Then shrugged innocently.

"Well…"

"This one really is smaller than the excavator."

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then Harry suddenly pointed dramatically.

"Everyone!"

His eyes burned with determination.

"Take down Leo!"

The battlefield instantly united.

For the first time in history—

Gryffindor and Slytherin formed an alliance.

Against a common enemy.

"Attack!"

A storm of snowballs erupted.

The Snow Mecha War had officially begun.
