Chapter 6 - The Hero of War

The woman who emerged from the Chasm had no idea what Ceres was.

She did not know the names of its kingdoms.

She did not know which races had ruled the world before humanity.

She did not know about the Hero of Calamity.

She did not know about the Hero of Memories.

And she certainly did not know that the people standing before her had been fighting the same war for nearly a thousand years.

She only knew one thing.

They were human.

And they were fighting for their survival.

The soldiers surrounding the Chasm watched her carefully.

Some expected another savior.

Others expected another monster.

The woman looked at their weapons, their armor, and their exhausted faces.

Then she noticed something that disturbed her.

Many of the soldiers were injured.

Some were barely standing.

Yet they were preparing to return to battle.

She turned toward their commander.

"How long have you been fighting?"

The commander hesitated.

"Three days."

"Without rest?"

"We cannot rest."

"Why?"

The commander pointed toward the horizon.

An enemy army was approaching.

Demons.

Thousands of them.

The woman stared at the approaching army.

Then she looked back at the humans.

"How many soldiers do you have?"

"Eight thousand."

"And them?"

The commander looked toward the enemy.

"At least twenty thousand."

The woman was silent.

The numbers were terrible.

She had no army.

No kingdom.

No knowledge of Norvana.

She had only just arrived.

Yet something inside her remained strangely calm.

She looked at the soldiers.

"Then we will need to fight differently."

---

The first thing she did was reorganize the army.

She divided the soldiers into smaller units.

She placed experienced warriors with inexperienced ones.

She separated archers from infantry.

She created reserves.

She assigned scouts.

She established communication signals.

The commanders initially resisted.

They had fought this war for generations.

Who was this stranger to tell them how to fight?

But then something happened.

The woman began to understand their soldiers.

Not their weapons.

Not their Norvana.

Their people.

She knew when they were afraid.

She knew when they were exhausted.

She knew when they were about to break.

And somehow, she always knew what to say.

"You're afraid."

The soldiers looked at her.

"Good."

They were confused.

"Fear means you understand what you're protecting."

She walked through their ranks.

"You don't need to stop being afraid."

She looked toward the enemy.

"You only need to keep moving while you're afraid."

The soldiers became silent.

Then she raised her sword.

"Stand together."

Thousands of soldiers raised their weapons.

"For your families."

Weapons struck shields.

"For your homes."

The sound became louder.

"For humanity."

The army roared.

The battle began.

---

The demons expected an easy victory.

They had more than twice the number of soldiers.

Their warriors were physically stronger.

Their commanders had centuries of experience.

The human army should have collapsed.

Instead, it moved as though it were one organism.

The woman stood behind the front lines.

She was not the strongest fighter.

She did not kill hundreds of enemies.

She did something more important.

She made everyone around her stronger.

Norvana flowed through the battlefield.

The soldiers felt their bodies become lighter.

Their movements became faster.

Their reactions sharper.

Their attacks more powerful.

Even those who had never been exceptional warriors found themselves fighting beyond their normal limits.

The woman could amplify the abilities of others.

The more people fighting beside her, the stronger the effect became.

And she understood how to use it.

She did not try to become the strongest warrior.

She turned thousands of ordinary warriors into something greater than themselves.

The demon army charged.

The human front line held.

The second line attacked.

Archers fired.

Norvana users unleashed their abilities.

The demon formation broke.

The woman watched the battlefield.

"Left flank."

A commander immediately moved his soldiers.

"Wait."

The demon army attempted another charge.

"Now."

The human cavalry attacked.

The demon formation collapsed.

For the first time in centuries, a human army had defeated a demon army without the intervention of a legendary individual warrior.

The woman had not won the battle herself.

She had made the army capable of winning it.

---

News spread quickly.

A new hero had appeared.

A hero from the Chasm.

The native races were alarmed.

They had seen this before.

A human arriving through the Chasm could change history.

They remembered the Calamity.

They remembered the Memories.

Now there was another.

But this hero was different.

She did not destroy kingdoms alone.

She conquered them with armies.

One victory became two.

Two became ten.

Ten became hundreds.

Human kingdoms that had spent centuries fighting one another began to unite beneath her command.

Some joined willingly.

Others joined because they feared the consequences of refusing.

For the first time since the disappearance of the Hero of Calamity, humanity began to act as one.

A single banner appeared across the human territories.

A single army.

A single command.

A single objective.

End the war.

---

The Hero of War led humanity north.

Then west.

Then across the central continent.

The demons resisted.

The elves resisted.

Demi-human kingdoms resisted.

Monsters attacked from the wilderness.

But the Hero of War continued.

Her greatest strength was not her physical power.

It was her ability to turn chaos into order.

Every battle made her army stronger.

Every defeat taught her something.

Every victory gave humanity more territory.

The native races began losing ground.

Their kingdoms were separated.

Their alliances broke.

Some attempted to negotiate.

The Hero of War refused.

Not because she hated them.

But because she believed that as long as the old powers remained, humanity would never be safe.

Her objective became absolute.

Drive every hostile race from the human territories.

And eventually—

the entire mainland of Ceres.

---

The demons fought the hardest.

They remembered the Calamity.

They knew what would happen if humanity gained control over the continent.

So they gathered everything they had left.

The remaining demon kingdoms formed a final alliance.

They assembled their strongest warriors.

Their greatest Norvana users.

Their ancient commanders.

And their remaining royal bloodlines.

They chose a battlefield where the terrain favored them.

For months, they prepared.

The Hero of War knew exactly what was waiting.

She did not retreat.

She marched toward them.

The final war between humanity and the demons began.

It lasted for years.

Entire generations of soldiers died.

Cities changed hands repeatedly.

Fortresses were built and destroyed.

The Hero of War herself was wounded many times.

Yet every time she returned to the battlefield.

Her soldiers began calling her something beyond a hero.

They called her their goddess.

Not because she claimed to be one.

Because she had become the symbol of their survival.

She fought beside ordinary soldiers.

She ate with them.

She slept among them.

She mourned their dead.

And when one of her soldiers died, she remembered their name.

That was why they followed her.

Not because she was the strongest person in the world.

But because they believed she would never abandon them.

---

Eventually, the demons were defeated.

Their remaining armies collapsed.

Their kingdoms fell.

Their leaders were killed or forced into exile.

The ancient demon territories were taken by humanity.

The other races began retreating.

Some fled into distant lands.

Others disappeared into forests and mountains.

Some crossed the oceans.

No one knew exactly where all of them went.

But on the four major continents controlled by humanity, one thing became certain.

Humanity had won.

For the first time in its history, Ceres belonged almost entirely to humans.

The Era of Chaos was ending.

But the Hero of War was not satisfied.

She looked across the conquered lands.

Millions had died.

The war was over.

Yet she knew history.

She knew that peace could disappear as quickly as it came.

Humanity needed protection.

Something permanent.

Something that could prevent another Chasm from bringing another calamity into the world.

Something that could separate humanity from the remaining threats beyond its borders.

Then, one day, the sky changed.

The Hero of War stood at the center of the human territories when an enormous wave of Norvan Power spread across the world.

The ground trembled.

The clouds disappeared.

A massive wall of energy began rising around the four human continents.

It stretched from the sea toward the heavens.

The people watched in silence.

The Hero of War raised her head.

She did not understand what was happening.

Then the barrier finished forming.

It surrounded the human territories completely.

A vast wall of power.

No army could cross it.

No ordinary Norvana technique could break it.

Even the Hero of War herself could not destroy it.

The humans called it the Divine Barrier.

And the timing of its appearance changed everything.

Because after the barrier emerged—

no more Chasms appeared.

Not one.

For the first time since the arrival of humanity, the world became silent.

The Hero of War stood before the barrier.

She placed her hand against it.

Nothing happened.

She could not break it.

She looked toward the horizon.

Perhaps she understood then that her journey had reached its end.

Humanity no longer needed her to fight.

It had a homeland.

It had kingdoms.

It had armies.

It had its own civilization.

And now it had a wall separating it from the chaos beyond.

The soldiers gathered around her.

They bowed.

Then one person shouted:

"Long live the Hero of War!"

Another joined.

Then another.

Soon, thousands of voices echoed across the land.

"Hero of War!"

"Hero of War!"

"Hero of War!"

She looked at them silently.

She had never asked for worship.

But humanity needed a symbol.

And so the woman who had arrived from the Chasm as a stranger became something far greater in the eyes of the people.

A protector.

A founder.

A saint.

Eventually, a goddess.

A church was established in her name.

Her teachings were recorded.

Her victories became holidays.

Her image was placed in temples.

Children learned her story.

And generations later, humans would still pray to the woman who had united their ancestors.

The Hero of War.

The woman who ended the Era of Chaos.

The woman who gave humanity a world of its own.

But the people did not know everything.

They did not know where she had come from.

They did not know why the Chasm had brought her.

They did not know why the Divine Barrier had appeared.

They did not know what had happened to the Hero of Calamity.

They did not know whether the Hero of Memories was truly gone.

And most importantly—

they did not know what was waiting beyond the barrier.

For humanity, a new age had begun.

An age of kingdoms.

An age of prosperity.

An age in which the horrors of the past slowly became legends.

But history has a habit of returning.

And the servants of the past are rarely as dead as people believe.

The age of humanity had begun.

But the story of Ceres had only just started.
