For a moment, Isabella didn't know how to respond. "I... I was actually just—"

His voice was calm, but there was no room for argument.
Isabella swallowed, she put on a smile like she was happy to "Of course."
Kevin turned toward the nurse stationed outside the ICU, "Let her in for a few minutes."
The nurse looked at Isabella, then at Kevin, "Sir, I'll need to confirm with the doctor."
Kevin gave a slight nod.
The nurse immediately picked up the phone and contacted the doctor.
After a brief conversation, she ended the call and approached Isabella.
"You can go in for a few minutes. Please follow the ICU guidelines and don't touch any of the equipment."
Isabella nodded.
The nurse opened the ICU door and allowed her inside.
Kevin remained outside, his eyes followed Isabella until the door closed behind her.
She pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The room was quiet except for the steady beeping of the monitors.
