A brief silence followed. The first to react was my beloved, little rascal.
"Exactly! Raviel, you’re the best! To win a war, strike first!"
Then he started patting Genise's shoulder, exclaiming, "See, see? My sister is no joke, right?"
Genise dodged Edwin's hands, frowning at first, but her eyes sparkled when she looked back at me.
And Haven, oh, he had gone nuts. He grabbed my hand again, pressing his lips to it fervently, then spouted nonsense.
"If Your Majesty has decided, I am ready to lead the charge."
That snapped me back to reality. I had let my excitement get the better of my judgment.
When dealing with these lunatics, I should have been really careful, but I ended up saying something I should have not.
They were the sort who might go back on their word and take action, so I always needed to choose my words carefully. Getting caught up in the moment could lead to an early grave.
