"Shit," I got closer to Nefra's nose, realizing something was wrong. "She broke it."
"It's not that bad," Nefra tried looking away, but it only made it look worse.
"Let me set it," I could lick it, but the bone would heal wrong.
Nefra said nothing for a few seconds before nodding.
"Go ahead," she closed her eyes, forcing her body to relax.
Her face was a wreck, and now that the blood was clean and some gashes were closing, you could see how much damage Jessica did.
Jessica learned to fight through me. She never took it seriously, and it showed now.
"One, two, three," I did it, and all Nefra did was wince and grunt before relaxing again.
'I've seen warriors cry.' But that wasn't Nefra. She'd scream and swear if it were adhesive, but no broken bones.
"Done," I kissed her nose, not only as comfort but to heal.
This was my fault, but I was too angry to feel guilt.
