Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 – Duncan’s empire’s future Monster lady

[Fiona's POV]

Life had been going well, even after Dean exposed our relationship; my life remained peaceful, and I was happy about it, but it seemed I wasn't going to be happy for long.

And the biggest obstacle yet seems to be Dean's parasitic mother. Though I knew I was going to face her soon, I didn't expect it to be this soon. I am yet to be his wife, so I have no stance against her.

"What the...… do you want to kill me?" I shouted at the driver.

I had taken a taxi to work since Dean couldn't drive me because of work, and it seemed it was a bad idea because the driver seemed to have bought his license.

"I am so sorry, ma'am… that other car almost hit us, so I was doing my best to avoid a collision," the driver chimes frantically, as he is busy swerving the car. He spoke of moving from its lane, heading straight towards us, causing a minor collision along the way.

"Hold on ma'am, I will get us out of here," he shouts as he swerves the car he avoid a collision, which causes the car to collide with a streetlamp, immediately deploying the air bag.

"Sir? Are you okay?" I shout and don't get a response. I can see other cars stopping to help, but the main car that caused the collision doesn't seem to want to stop.

[A few hours later]

"Fiona!" I heard Heath scream from the hallway, even though there weren't any deaths, many people who were present during the accidents sustained bad injuries, with my driver having a head injury and also a broken arm.

"I am fine, Heath," I tell him.

"What happened? They said you were in an accident," he says, rushing to my bedside.

After the chain of accidents caused by the reckless driver, everyone who was affected by it was rushed to the hospital.

"I am okay, Heath, the driver did his best to keep me safe," I tell him, but he stares at my face intensely.

"Well, he didn't try hard enough," he shouts, slowly extending his hand to touch the huge wound that had adorned my face.

Just after our car collided with the lamp, another car collided with us, and the window broke into one piece, hitting my face before my reflexes could respond.

As a result, I sustained a very heavy wound across my face, a wound that would leave a scar that would scar my life until the day I die.

"It is okay, I didn't die," I tell him as he caresses my face gently, "Are you worried that I won't be as attractive now?"

"What nonsense is that?" he yells, "You are hurt, he couldn't protect you enough, now you are hurt, that is what is worrying me."

I looked at his eyes as he began to tear up, "God, it must hurt. How can I take away the pain? Should I make him pay for it?…..."

"He barely escaped with his life, Heath; we should be thankful..."

"I will find the person who was driving like he owned that road, and I will make him pay for every droplet of blood that fell on your face," he cuts me off angrily.

I couldn't respond, though I was trying my best to stay positive. This slash across my face was going to be a bigger problem than I could ever have imagined.

I wasn't disfigured or anything, my face was still intact, but now there was a hug line that starts from my left cheek, passes through my nose to my right cheek, and it was a very visible line, a line that changed my whole image.

I felt like my whole life was ruined. I dreaded the looks on people's faces when they saw my newly attained mark, and it hurts, it hurts so much. I started crying, and he instinctively comforted me.

Because the only injury I had was just the cut on my face, I was discharged late that afternoon. Heath decided to cancel all his meetings to take care of me; he even called Clover over to help with my mood.

I had somehow calmed down about my newfound scar. Selby was set to be home soon with Lucas, and even pregnant, with the help of both Heath and Gian, Clover was able to prepare a good meal for us.

'I am going to be okay,' I tell myself as I take a deep breath. With the support system I have, I am sure this will not even affect my self-esteem and confidence at all.

{Knock-Knock-Knock} a light knock on the door could be heard, and as the other three were still busy, I decided to go open the door.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhh..." A gut-wrenching scream is heard across the whole building.

At my door was a tall woman; she looked like she was in her sixties. She was clearly a prideful woman; you could tell by just looking at her posture that she would think twice before spitting on your face.

"Ma'am…... are you okay?" I said softly, with the excruciating pain I get when I speak because of the scar. I had opted to speak a bit softly instead, as it felt better.

But the woman only looked at me with disgust. She had looked around as if she were lost, but that was until Heath yelled, asking if I was okay.

"Are you the hideous woman my son has been cohabiting with?" the woman speaks finally, "What has gotten into this useless brat? Just because he didn't get motherly love doesn't mean he should seek it from whichever animal with a v*gina. He ought to be careful, don't you think?"

She says so condescendingly, I wanted to scream at her, cuss at her, but I was told if I screamed too much, my stitches would open, and I didn't think she deserved me hurting myself to put her in her place.

"Ah! You are Heath's surrogate mother, right?" I calmly say, and I watch as all the pride melts off her quickly.

"What did you just call me?"

"Well, I guess it is an insult to surrogates who selflessly sacrifice their bodies to give life. I can't call you an egg donor either, since you also have no qualifications to be called that either," I calmly say. I watch as she turns purple with anger.

"But then again, you are not important enough to Heath to get a title."

"You do run your mouth a lot, don't you, missy? No wonder some finally scared you to shut you up," she said firmly, picking on a new wound, unlucky for her. I don't easily explode because of a few taunts.

"Geez, woman, can you leave me alone already?" Heath yells, "You are not getting a cent out of me, now go back to your lover boy and leave me alone."

He then closed the door on her face violently before she could respond. "Don't let that witch get to you," he comforted me. I could hear his mother scream profanity behind the door, but he paid no mind to it.

"Come on, let us get ready to eat. Lucas and Selby say they are just packing the car," Heath says, pulling me into the apartment.

I had thought that it would only get better from then on, though I knew his mother would not give up on whatever her mission was; I still knew that, with the people around me, I was going to overcome this.

That was just mindless thoughts from a woman who had nothing more to do to help her situation than be helpful. "What on earth is this?" Heath yells at the newspaper.

The front page is a picture of me in the hospital room while they tend to my open wound, the headline, 'Duncan's empire's future Monster lady.' It seemed my problems had just begun.
