[Heath's POV]
She looked sad today, her bright eyes no longer shining like magical stars. Well, since the accident, she had become rather dim. Rumors after rumors that are nothing but fabricated lies can somehow do that to you. One of the few that made me mad was that I brought her into this mess.
"How was your day?" I ask. She sighs heavily before letting out a bitter smile.
"It was better," she says, "Mr. Apostrophe wants off his project though, so that is a bummer."
I tried my best to stay composed. I knew I was about to tell her bad news, and I hated how Mr. Apostrophe had already made her sad.
"You will be okay, your friends will always support you," I said bitterly, "Want some food? I wanted to pass by a drive-thru."
Fiona would love to eat her feelings away a lot, and I knew a good place to help her with that. "Please, I could use a good burger and fries," she chimes happily, forgetting all about her problems at work.
She happily sings along to the music playing as we get our food, it is almost as if she were back at being the Fiona I met, almost.
We get our food quickly and eat as we drive home. She is in a better mood than she was, but I could see her eyes darken as we drove in the parking lot.
There, Lucas was busy helping carry my suitcase into a truck. "What is going on?" she asks, distraught.
"Well…..." I say with a heavy heart. She looks at me with teary eyes, quickly wipes the tears off her face, and takes a deep breath.
"You are moving out, huh?" she says bitterly, "not surprised, have a nice life."
She angrily tries to open the door, but I lock the car. "Sit down and listen, okay."
She snorts before glaring at me, "Talk," she mutters.
"I am sorry, I couldn't tell you at work because you were having a bad day, and I couldn't get your opinion, because well, I don't need your opinion on this; my decision has been made."
"Is that it?" she says before rolling her eyes, "You are going back to your bachelor life because you cannot be seen with a woman with a scar on her face?"
"No, of course not, Fiona, I love you. I told you that already. What makes you think I will leave you?" I said angrily, realizing I had made her misunderstand.
"Then why are you moving out?" she asks sadly, "You know I…. I need you; I need your support; I am going through a lot, Heath."
"I am not moving out, we are moving out, they are carrying out your stuff and my stuff as well, Fiona, you know I don't have that many clothes to have a moving truck that big."
"I… what? What do you mean? Why am I moving out? Did I get evicted?" she asks bitterly. I take a deep breath. This is the news I dread to tell her: that I am practically the source of all her pain.
"You are moving in with me, for your safety," I say.
"Ugh… Heath, are you losing your mind? I am perfectly safe where I am at, and I don't think we are at the stage in our relationship that we can move in together," she grumbles, annoyed. She attempts to get out of the car again before realizing it is locked.
"I know who caused your accident, which is why you are moving; it is my fault your accident happened."
She looks at me, frightened, "What do you mean? Who caused the accident? Is it one of your enemies?" she frantically asks me.
Maybe I shouldn't have met her, then she would still be safe, and she wouldn't need my protection. Tell me, Heath, who did this to me?" she yells angrily.
"Esther, somehow, Esther managed to get back to the country and has been following you around," I say in a low tone. She immediately starts gasping for air out of fear.
"Fiona, breathe, please. It is going to be okay," I reassured her, "We are searching for her, we will raise hell on the whole of Cape Town if we have to."
[Meanwhile – Third person's POV]
The plan was simple: cause an accident and kill the woman who has Heath wrapped around her finger, but the plan didn't work, and now she has Heath on her tail.
"What have you done?" she heard someone yell as they entered her room, "You said he loved you, you said he would leave her for you, that is why I helped you."
"Quit complaining, Fiona just needs to be dead, then we can have his attention," Esther said to the other frantic woman.
"Are you stupid? That woman already has a hideous scar on her face, and he still stands with her," the other yells, "You got me into the mess with the guise that he loved you enough to forgive me. I shouldn't have trusted you."
"Listen, lady," Esther says angrily, strangling the other woman, "Heath loves me, I know this, I saw how he looked at me on that cruise, he loves me beyond comprehension, he cannot breathe without me. Fiona is just a mere distraction."
"Ahhhh, are you… insane," the lady says as she chokes, "fine, I will trust your word, just let me go."
"You believe Heath loves me?" Esther asks.
"Yes, I believe Heath loves you and only you," the other lady says, terrified.
Esther lets go of the lady's neck, "I am going into hiding. Stay put. We will get Fiona Lennon out of Heath's life soon."
[Meanwhile – Third person's POV]
She told her so, and she warned her to stay away from Heath. This is all Clover had been thinking about since the accident. She loves seeing her friend happy, and Heath does just that, but at what cost, at the cost of her life?
If Fiona had just listened to her and not involved herself with Heath, she wouldn't have to hide for her life, but it is too late now. Clover has to just protect her friend and support her in this difficult time.
"Madam, can I get you tea?" the newly hired nurse says.
"Pardon, why?"
"Well, you seem very stressed, and I figured a cup of coffee would help you calm down."
"Yes, tea will be fine, it might help me."
But she is not far into the kitchen before she hears a scream from Clover and rushes back to the living room.
"Madam, are you okay?"
"I am bleeding, my baby is bleeding," Clover screams frantically, "My baby Bonnie, am I having a miscarriage?! No! Not again! Please save my baby."
