[Fiona's POV]
Heath was clearly annoyed by my jumping to go to the hospital, which was a surprise to me, as he had always seemed to enjoy supporting me.
Guess it is different now, with the scar and this new crisis in my life. I guess the love drug is wearing off now.
"We have arrived," I hear Heath's unimpressed voice chime.
"You can stay here; it is clear you don't want to be here," I said, and before he could even protest, I was already out of the car.
I found Gian in the hallway. I didn't even have to search for him, but surprisingly, he didn't look distraught. Must be numb to this already; he has gone through this enough to not care about it anymore.
"Gian?" I called out, and his face lit up immediately when he saw me.
"Oh…. Fiona, thank heavens you are here," he says, "Please go to Clover, she needs you, she is not listening to anyone."
"I understand, Gian, she just lost..."
"Oh… No, she didn't lose the baby," he says happily, "she was saved, she was born prematurely."
I can see the pure joy in his face. "She just needs to explain to him that the baby is fine, but at the moment, the doctors say she must be going through something called puerperal psychosis."
"I will go talk to her," I say, as Gian leads me to Clover's room. I can see Heath arrive in the hallway at the corner of my eye.
I cannot help but frown at him. My friend is going through too much, and it is affecting me a lot; now he wants to dump me.
I could hear Clover screaming before I even entered the room, "That is not my child, why are you so cruel? Why are you doing this to me?" she shouts.
"Clover!" I say softly, the nurse trying to hand over the child to her.
"Ma'am, you have to feed the baby, please," the nurse pleads, but Clover looks too distraught to take the baby.
"I felt it, I felt my child dying. Don't you dare lie to me, that is not my child," she yells.
"Clover, calm down."
"You don't know it, Fee, I felt it, there was blood, and I felt my child die just like it has always been." She says to me, I approach her slowly before giving her a big hug.
"They saved your child, they were able to do an emergency C-Section, and the child was saved," I whispered to her gently. She seems hesitant to believe me; she keeps shaking her head when I speak to her.
She is clearly still in pain from the surgery she just underwent, and her eyes are red from crying all day. "But I felt... I was bleeding," she said in her tired voice.
"Yes, I get what happened and what you could have gone through, and I am sorry I was not there to help you. But the doctors were able to help save both you and the baby," I explained to her softly.
"So.... That is?" she said, looking at the infant in the nurse's hands.
"Yes, that is your lovely baby boy, and he has been dying to meet you," I tell you. She slowly walked to the nurse to peek at the crying baby boy, and she hesitantly extended her hands to carry him.
"He has my eyes," she says with tears falling down her cheeks. "Look, Fee, he has my eyes," she says, smiling with joy.
"Yes, that is your baby boy," I reassured her. She gently hugged her son, even though she looked hesitant to believe she was holding her own child; she still held onto him, welcoming him to the world and telling him how much she loved him.
After a few minutes, nurses and doctors had entered the room, ready to explain to Clover about her baby. I slipped out for a moment, giving her the privacy she needed.
[MEANWHILE – 3RD PERSON POV]
Gian and Heath were waiting outside the hospital door for Fiona to call them. They had noticed that the doctor was called, and Gian looked more worried.
"You think everything is okay?" Gian asked Heath, who just shrugged uninterested.
"We will know in due time," Heath says lazily.
Gian could sense that Heath was not happy, but he didn't want to press on it since he had enough on his plate currently.
Soon, Fiona was seen getting out of the room, and Gian quickly rushed to her, "What happened? Is Clover okay?"
"Yes, I explained to her that her child was alive and now the doctors are explaining to her what really happened," she says calmly, "You should go in. I am sure she needs her husband on her side right now."
Gian didn't need to be told twice; he quickly rushed into the room to his wife's side, leaving Heath and Fiona.
"I thought you had left," Fiona says.
"Couldn't leave you here alone, especially knowing your life is in danger, something you don't seem to take seriously," Heath says, almost condescending.
"What... what even are you on about? Geez, you know what, don't even tell me," Fiona concluded, "I am going to need to get my clothes from your place, with the baby coming home in a month, I will be living with Clover and Gian, helping them."
Heath opened his mouth to talk, but he decided against it. "Can you drive me to your place to get a few things?"
He just nodded lazily before driving her to his place and back to Gian's home, where she settled in the guest room. And helped the workers, as Gian hadn't come home since last night.
"Would you be going to the office tomorrow?" Heath asked Fiona as she came downstairs.
" Are you still here?"
"Of course, I am still here! Do you hate my presence that much?"
"I didn't say that, just you have been making that annoyed face all day, that I feel you hate being around my scary face," Fiona lets out her frustration.
"What scary face, Fiona?" Heath asked angrily, "I am just annoyed because…... you just keep…..."
Heath's sentence was interrupted by Gian opening the door, "Oh, you two are here?"
"Oh yes, I will be helping with Clover in the meantime, so I have moved a few of my things here," Fiona says, "I hope you don't mind."
"I don't mind, in fact, I appreciate it. Thank you, Fiona," Gian says.
"I will pick you up tomorrow morning to take you to the office," Heath, who was clearly frustrated, says. He walked to kiss Fiona, but she dodged it. He sighs before walking away.
Gian was now worried about the two; he feared that Clover's fears that Heath would eventually discard Fiona were coming true. And vowed to himself to put Heath in his place the next time he sees him.
