"I do not owe you anything!" Lyla's voice cracked as she tried to pull herself up and away from but failed miserably,her body trembling with exhaustion. Leaning her head against the truck,she stared at the night sky taking note of how few the stars were. It was as though they went into hiding because they were unable to witness her pain. She felt her baby stir in her arms and she pulled her closer to her chest. "He died. My mate died and it's all because of you!!"
Her gaze hardened when his cruel laughter reached her ear vibrating through the quietness of the night. Only half of his face was visible as the other half was shadowed by the dimly lit glow of the parking lot light. The low light didn't hide the unmistakable smirk on his lips, mocking her predicament.
Lyla immediately wished that she could transform into her wolf as she wanted nothing but to rip his head from his neck.
