Chapter 164 - No One Can Control Me.

Warm, orange light from the lamps illuminated the mottled walls, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The moldy, decaying air of the dungeon, and the brilliant, flashing orange light of the massive sphere, which seemed to symbolize hope, created a strange juxtaposition of the fallen and the hopeful.

Gino leaned silently against the wall, gazing at the gigantic light sphere as it spoke, "As the last son of Krypton, Kal-El carried the hopes and dreams of all the Kryptonian people as he journeyed across the universe."

"He was born to be extraordinary, and he should have borne all of this."

"But, his ties to humanity constrained him and limited his potential."

"Humans, these small, dirty, and despicable creatures, are as ugly to us as undeveloped gorillas, yet Kal-El actually fell in love with them."

Gino listened silently to all of this, but in his heart, he scoffed at Jor-El's views.

If this were his old world, he might agree with the other's perspective, but this was the DC Universe, and Earth was the center of the universe. Almost every major event revolved around Earth and humanity.

It was more accurate to describe humans as the chosen ones.

What annoyed Gino even more was Jor-El's condescending attitude.

It was as if humans were just ants under his feet, ready to be trampled at any moment.

"But you are different."

Jor-El paused, and a beam of gentle light, like the holy light of God, shone from the sphere and gently landed on Gino, as if he were a model stepping onto a grand stage.

"Gino Luthor, I've been observing you far longer than you imagine."

"From Jeremy at the very beginning, to you killing that fat gym teacher with your own hands."

The sphere of light's voice held a hint of excitement and gratification.

"I've watched you grow, step by step, witnessed your transformation."

"You don't have Clark Kent's weakness. You know what you want and are willing to work for it."

"The Kryptonian glory and mission should be inherited by you, not a failure."

"This is your innate destiny."

Jor-El's voice came from within the sphere of light. Then, the original crimson light sphere gradually changed, constructing a small Earth model as if 3D-printed.

"And now, it's time to accept your fate~"

The original orange light extinguished. A dark, obscure blackness swept through the surroundings, and a serene Earth model slowly floated in mid-air.

It constantly projected a pale blue beam around itself, and in the next moment, people familiar to Gino slowly walked out of the blue light.

Their figures flickered, like images projected by some kind of high-tech device.

The girl with short golden hair stood in place with a blank expression. Jor-El's voice echoed in the underground prison:

"Chloe, this girl who claims to have a crush on you, when you come to this town in the future, is actually in love with Clark Kent. This is betrayal."

Wearing a suit, like a business elite, Lionel stepped forward to the front of the curtain.

Jor-El continued, "Lionel, your nominal biological father, has been secretly collecting your saliva, hair, and other tissue since you awakened your Kryptonian abilities, trying to research the secret of your abilities' origin. This is greed."

Before his voice fell, another bald man walked out of the light curtain.

Lex, with a dazed expression, stood quietly in place, and Jor-El's voice sounded again: "Lex Luthor, your brother, also envied the abilities and talents you possessed when you were young. This is envy."

"So," Jor-El sighed, "this is how vile humans are."

"Come with me."

Jor-El's voice rose: "Construct a world for Kryptonians!"

"Transform Earth into Kyr—"

"Alright, shut up."

A sudden outburst. The boy's impatient tone cut through Jor-El's clamor.

The boy rubbed his neck, sighed, and stared at the spinning Earth model. His voice was despondent: "I thought you'd come up with some grand speech, I didn't expect the same old dark and twisted stuff."

"Boom!"

The youth took a light step forward.

His foot landed, leaving an indentation in the solid floor.

The ground cracked. Gino wore a mocking expression. "So-called betrayal, jealousy, love... these are all instinctive emotions of humans."

Although Lionel was indeed a scumbag, this scumbag couldn't represent all of humanity.

Gino put his hands behind his back, stating his views:

"No one is perfect, and no one is noble."

"A person can't choose the thoughts that suddenly arise from their heart, but they can control their actions."

"Chloe has never been with me. Whether she likes me, or likes someone else, that's her business."

"Easterners once said, 'Judge by deeds, not by intentions.' Perhaps you Kryptonians should study some more philosophy."

"It's you, actually."

Gino took another step forward, and an invisible Bio-Field, like a massive iron curtain, enveloped the dungeon.

"Crack, crack…"

The chains shattered under the repelling force, and the iron door of the dungeon twisted. Everything was warped under the Bio-Field's influence, including the floating "Jor-El."

"You!"

The voice from within the sphere was laced with shock. He hadn't expected this boy to have developed Kryptonian abilities to such a powerful extent.

"And, there's one more crucial thing."

Gino's eyes lit up with crimson light, swirling like molten lava.

"Who am I?"

"Or rather, what am I supposed to do?"

The youth's head moved forward, and in the next instant, deadly heat, compressed to an extreme temperature, shot from his eyes and howled towards Jor-El.

Buzz!

A layer of silver-gray energy lit up on the sphere, enveloping it. The heat, enough to melt steel, landed on it, causing ripples.

"I decide for myself."

Gino strode forward again, with each step shattering the solid ground beneath his feet.

The storm created by the collision of heat and light blew his short sleeves.

"No one can!"

Gino increased the output power again.

Every cell in his body was roaring, operating at full speed, supplying the solar energy Gino had accumulated from day after day of sun exposure to his eyes.

Boom!

A Heat Vision far larger and more shocking than before, as thick as a person, roared and slammed into the light screen.

"No one can control me!"

As Gino roared this sentence, accompanied by the continuous bombardment of terrifying Heat Vision.

The pitiful light sphere, like a small boat, could no longer withstand it.

Crack!

A clear cracking sound echoed, and a scorching red flow engulfed the spaceship.

As the ship gradually melted and disintegrated in the Heat Vision, Jor-El's slightly exasperated voice resentfully echoed: "Gino Luthor, you will regret this!"

Responding to him was an even more rapid and violent flow of heat.

Buzz!

Along with the red light completely "devouring" the spaceship, melting the wall behind it.

Jor-El's voice no longer echoed. Looking at the charred spaceship wreckage emitting a foul odor, Gino sneered: "And there's one more crucial point – I am human."
