Chapter 165 - Clark Out of Control

Outside the hospital in Smallville.

Outside the convenience store.

The cold wind cut through the thin shirt, chilling his skin.

Ignoring the biting wind,

the tall Clark put the coin into the vending machine.

Clang!

As the machine whirred, a can of soda dropped.

He pulled the tab on the soda, feeling the carbonated drink hit his stomach.

The cool, refreshing taste made Clark let out a sigh of satisfaction.

Cola, not only had to be cold, but also delicious.

Humming a Kansas folk song, Clark swayed his head.

His mother, Martha, had recovered, and his abilities had also returned.

More importantly, he would soon have a younger brother or a cute little sister.

Clark walked towards the hospital entrance. He planned to stay with Martha tonight and let his adoptive father, Jonathan, go home to rest.

"Kal-El."

A faint voice, as if drifting down from the night sky above, sounded in Clark's ears.

The voice sounded incredibly weak, struggling to call out to Clark: "Son of Krypton, bearer of Krypton's final hope, come to me."

"What's going on?"

Hearing the voice that seemed to come from all directions, Clark couldn't help but tense up, his gaze darting around warily.

The flowers planted in the hospital flowerbeds swayed in the night wind, releasing a fragrance, but nothing else was there.

"Am I hallucinating?"

Clark dug at his ears, somewhat doubting his hearing.

"No, Clark Kent, I am in the flowerbeds, come to me."

"In the flowerbeds?"

Clark frowned slightly, his gaze sweeping across the flower bed. His X-ray vision pierced through the plants, and soon, a small, palm-sized ball of light emitting an orange glow appeared in his sight.

Severely injured after barely escaping Gino's heat vision, "Jor-El" coaxed him, "That's right, just like that. Pick me up."

"No!" Clark, who was about to bend down to pick up the ball of light, stopped.

He furrowed his brow slightly and took a step back.

After experiencing many things and spending time with Gino, Clark now possessed the necessary caution.

This suddenly appearing ball of light likely concealed some kind of conspiracy.

Seeing the boy suddenly stop, the ball of light immediately grew anxious. It said, "I am the will of your father, Jor-El!"

"I have come to find you to tell you about your origins."

"And a message from your birth mother."

The shameless Jor-El even brought up the name of Clark's birth mother. Having observed Clark for a long time, Jor-El clearly knew what Clark's weaknesses were.

Compared to Gino, who was difficult to control, Clark was easier to manage. This was also the reason why Jor-El turned to Clark.

Since the first choice, Gino, had rejected him, the second choice, Clark, wasn't bad either.

As expected, the words "message from your birth mother" seemed to have some kind of magic. Clark, who had originally planned to leave and go find Gino, stopped. He tilted his head, and Martha's face instinctively flashed in his mind. After hesitating for a moment, he said, "You mean, my birth mother?"

Many thoughts suddenly flooded the boy's mind.

What was his birth mother's name? Did his birth mother love him?

If she loved him, why did she send him away? All sorts of doubts, like a thick fog, troubled Clark.

Desperate for answers, Clark couldn't help but take a few steps forward and press, "I'm asking you, what do you know?!"

"I know a lot, child." The voice of Jor-El hesitated for a moment before slowly continuing, "But, what you need to know right now is not the answer."

"What?"

Before Clark could react, the orange orb on the ground, less than two meters away, suddenly shot out a stream of colorful light, like a rainbow, from its center.

It howled and struck Clark's chest, accompanied by a heart-wrenching pain, as Clark tore off his clothes, wailing.

The light that merged into his body seemed to contain a strange magic, as if it were conscious, converging on Clark's chest.

Then, the temperature in his chest rose, and his skin tore, sketching a hideous scar. From a distance, the scar gradually formed a bloody "S" pattern, which was, in fact, the emblem of the House of El.

Rolling on the ground in pain, Clark covered his forehead with his hands, trying to resist the strange will implanted in his mind.

But, the other party clearly wouldn't give him a chance.

"Now, obey my command!"

Jor-El's voice, like that of a god, echoed in Clark's mind: "Go to the Luthor Chemical Plant, and bring everything there to me!"

As an observer in the shadows, Jor-El had seen that bald man often frequent the Luthor Chemical Plant, and there must be something hidden there.

"Uh, yes, yes!"

A pair of large eyes gradually lost their luster, becoming gray and lifeless. Clark, with his hands down and a blank expression, rose as stiffly as a robot and slowly walked towards the Luthor Chemical Plant.

"B-Zero, if you make that television make noise again, I guarantee I'll smash it."

In the factory's laboratory, Lex stood before a precise instrument, trying to manipulate these expensive technological devices to extract the mysterious energy contained within the quantum mask. After all, this substance, which could support a person's interstellar dimensional travel, greatly interested Lex.

Hearing Lex's warning, Bizarro in the corner cautiously lowered the TV volume, muttering, "Lex, bad."

Ignoring Bizarro, who had the intellect of a six-year-old, Lex rapidly typed on the keyboard, writing a program.

"Zzzt~"

Static crackled from the intercom on the desk, followed by the security guard's slightly panicked voice: "Mr. Lex, leave immediately! A madman has broken into the factory!"

The tone was agitated and urgent, not sounding like a lie.

"Clack~"

After typing the last space, Lex stopped, frowned, and picked up the intercom on the desk, simultaneously pressing the button to order the scientists in the underground base to evacuate.

"Explain carefully. What happened?"

"Oh my God, I can't even describe it."

The security guard's voice was laced with fear, and the crackle of gunfire could be heard from the other end of the comms.

BANG BANG BANG!

After the gunshots ceased, the security guard's voice even cracked with a sob, "Oh my God, he, he can't even be killed by bullets."

"Bullets?" Lex gripped the comms tightly, but before he could ask another question, a piercing static erupted from the device.

The connection was severed. Lex switched to the computer interface with a serious expression and quickly pulled up the factory's surveillance footage.

Outside the factory gates, a group of security guards lay scattered on the ground. In the shadows of the night, a tall figure was striding towards the factory.

"Damn it, Bizarro, go stop him."

Ignoring who the intruder was, Lex only knew that his research here couldn't be exposed.

If it were exposed, the shock to the world would be no less than dropping a hydrogen bomb!

With that, he took out his phone and called Gino.

"Brother in danger, come quickly!"
