Lin Feng wasn't sure how much Nick Fury truly knew about him, but it was obvious that he was already under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s surveillance.Still, he wasn't nervous.
First of all, he knew that S.H.I.E.L.D. loved to do this kind of annoying thing. That deep-rooted distrust in Nick Fury's bones wasn't aimed only at him.
Hadn't Fury already planted people inside Tony Stark's company as well?Anyone Fury considered potentially dangerous—especially those involved with the extraordinary—fell under his jurisdiction.
Regular companies? Even if they were smuggling weapons, he wouldn't bother.
Given the strength Lin Feng had displayed—killing Kingpin and his identity as Homelander—Nick Fury had every reason to take notice.
But that was all. There wasn't much Fury could do to him.
Because right now, Lin Feng was a bona fide super-rich man.
His personal wealth might not have broken the ten-billion mark yet, but being listed on Forbes's richest people of the year was absolutely within reach—and very likely within the top hundred.
After all, this wasn't yet the era of explosive billionaire growth.
With his current social standing, wealth, and influence, Fury couldn't easily make a move against him.And since Lin Feng hadn't broken any laws, there was nothing to fear.
As always, Lin Feng was a reserved, understated person. Although he had decided to "lay low," every now and then he couldn't resist stepping into the spotlight with the main characters.
He wasn't some thousand-year-old cunning fox. He couldn't always stick to the plan perfectly—and honestly, that was unrealistic.
However, as his power grew and his wealth and status rose, his mentality had become much calmer. Facing Fury now, what he felt wasn't fear—just annoyance.
Because S.H.I.E.L.D. still had its limits and procedures. But Hydra—the serpent lurking beneath it—had none.
They were capable of anything.
"If Hydra dares to reach out to me, I'll just cut off their hand," Lin Feng thought coldly.
Soon after, Lin Feng returned to New York and immediately had Sharon Carter register a new tech company: Lin Technologies, under Lin Investments.
This time, he planned to take the tech business seriously. With Ivan Vanko's help, success was almost guaranteed.
After all, there was only one player in the fusion clean-energy market right now—Tony Stark.
In truth, fusion research wasn't new. Countries had been working on it for decades. But it was always "fifty years away."No matter when you asked, they'd always tell you: "In fifty years."
Now Tony Stark had appeared out of nowhere with a fully functional design—a dimensional blowout.
He triggered a global clean-energy frenzy, and Stark Industries' stock prices skyrocketed.
And this was before full-scale commercial rollout. According to the plan, fusion power plants would gradually be built within the next decade.
Which meant: from the perspective of Stark Industries' future, the company was just taking off right now—the perfect time to join the game.
Even if Ivan Vanko's talent couldn't match Stark's and he forever remained second best, that "second place" still meant astronomical wealth.
At that point, Lin Feng would complete a true class leap.
If at the start he had only been a "small-time rich third generation"—his family's three generations of accumulation barely crossing a hundred million—then after months of effort, his personal fortune could now make the Forbes list.He was a legitimate rich man.
Next step: become a super tycoon—someone whose wealth could influence America, even the world.
A man who was a financial empire by himself.
But when the recruitment drive for Lin Technologies went live, one applicant stunned Lin Feng—
It was Gwen Stacy, the Spider-Woman herself.
When Lin Feng first met her last year, she had just started college. Now she was a sophomore looking for an internship.
That was common in the U.S.—especially among elite students.
And with family connections, those "elite" kids had their parents write recommendation letters to get them placed in companies owned by powerful friends.
After a few years, they'd have dazzling résumés before even graduating.
Lin Feng's family connections brought him a pile of such letters too—some from old family friends—each with impressive backgrounds.
He had Sharon Carter handle them all. He didn't bother personally.
But Gwen… Gwen was different.
Lin Feng personally interviewed her.
Her résumé read: Columbia University sophomore. An Ivy League student.
Excellent grades—an academic prodigy.
Gwen Stacy, meanwhile, looked proudly at Lin Feng's handsome face. She hadn't expected that the man who once saved her life would turn out to be this young Chinese businessman.
After reading her diary, she knew now that the Homelander who saved her back then was this very man.
He had saved her life—and the diary held shocking secrets—so she couldn't resist coming to meet him.
And upon meeting, she found him… stunningly handsome.
Even by Western standards, he was a remarkably good-looking young man—almost comparable to the dear readers themselves.
Lin Feng's looks had always been above average, but after his transformations by the Super Soldier Serum and the Homelander template, he was on another level entirely.
No trace of the Western stereotype of "slanted-eyed Asians"—his appearance was striking.
Lin Feng glanced at Gwen through the corner of his eye. This was his first time seeing her in person.
She wasn't quite like any of the versions he had imagined—not the movie Gwen, nor the animated Spider-Gwen.
She was a blend—golden hair, blue eyes like calm water, tall nose, flawless skin without freckles.
Even for someone who preferred Eastern beauty, Lin Feng had to admit—she was breathtaking.
"A fellow Columbia student, huh? Welcome, welcome," Lin Feng smiled."You're hired. Go ahead and complete the onboarding paperwork. Since you're still studying, we'll coordinate your hours around your classes."
Yes—Lin Feng himself had graduated from Columbia, so calling her his junior was perfectly accurate.
Then a thought struck him—maybe he could collaborate with Columbia University. It was an Ivy League school, after all, full of talent.
He could recruit students as interns—a source of "cheap labor"… no, no—"brilliant young minds."
He offered them opportunities; they offered him their intellect.A perfectly reasonable, mutually beneficial exchange.
Flawless logic.
Activating his senses, Lin Feng immediately felt a powerful energy emanating from Gwen—her life force was far beyond that of a normal human.
But knowing she was Spider-Woman, he wasn't surprised.
After she left, Lin Feng rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
His company was starting to look… chaotic.
S.H.I.E.L.D. agents like Sharon Carter and Natasha Romanoff.Supervillains like Ivan Vanko. And now Spider-Woman Gwen Stacy.
"Is this… a company or a circus?"
Still, he told himself—he was a good person. Therefore, his company must be a good company.Perfectly reasonable!
Of course, Gwen possessed spider powers—but what about Peter Parker?
Lin Feng frowned.According to official Marvel lore, those who became Spider-Men were never "random." They were chosen by the Spider Totem.
In other words, their destinies were predetermined.
Yes—another "chosen one" story.
This fit perfectly with Western tradition—nobility through lineage.
But normally, each universe had only one Spider-Man—one Spider Totem.
If Gwen already carried that totem, could Peter still become Spider-Man?
Or… would he turn into the Lizard instead?
That would be tragic.
But if multiple Spider-People gathered together, that would be the Spider-Verse.
Meaning—the Spider-Verse might merge with the Marvel Universe.
According to the lore, back in 2003 multiple Spider-Women gathered to protect a boy—none other than Peter Parker.
If that storyline were merging in now, things were about to get very interesting.
But it could also mean danger—because the Morlun family, the devourers of Spider Totems, would eventually come hunting.
And Gwen might not even realize the threat closing in.
"Doesn't matter," Lin Feng murmured."The key is to keep getting stronger. Once I'm strong enough, it doesn't matter who's behind what. I'll just kill them all."
What really worried him now was the TVA.
He knew that eventually, the TVA would be destroyed by Loki, who would become the God of Stories, guarding the timelines and letting them flow freely.
But before that, countless timelines would be pruned—erased brutally.
Lin Feng didn't know whether his timeline existed before that… or after.
