In the hall of the Council of Silvermoon, Magister Rommath stood in the center, with the mages and other members arranged in two rows.
However, this layout changed after Grand Magister Belo'vir and Leylin entered the hall. Magister Rommath descended from the upper floor of the hall, where the wild gold phoenix pattern was engraved. Leylin and Belo'vir stood in the center of the hall.
There was no place to sit; all elves, regardless of status, stood together.
Initially, the Council of Silvermoon was solely responsible for handling the voodoo incident and eliminating the threat posed by the voodoo. However, for nearly a week, there was no effect.
In fact, the number of elves injured in the Farstrider Enclave on the front lines was increasing. Commander Thalorien Dawnseeker, sensing the problem, petitioned the Sunstrider Court to transfer the task to Grand Magister Belo'vir.
With Belo'vir and Leylin's help, the task was successfully resolved. The voodoo was broken, and the rangers were rescued.
Magister Rommath thanked Great Magister Belo'var. The Grand Magister before him had truly aided the Council of Silvermoon, otherwise the organization would have been in a most embarrassing position within the kingdom.
"This is an honor for you, Grand Magister." Magister Rommath held a fine wooden box, half-open. Inside, on a silky cloth, lay a golden phoenix seal. This was an honor bestowed by the Sunstrider family.
Belo'vir refused to accept the seal from Rommath. Instead, he took it out and placed it on his student's chest.
Leylin was surprised, but his mentor gave him a look of trust.
"This time, it was my student who entered Zul'Aman. This was the most dangerous part. He handled the negotiations brilliantly, and this is a credit to him." Belo'vir leaned over to adjust the seal's position, then patted Leylin's chest, urging him to stand tall.
The Mage Councilors were whispering among themselves, wondering why a human should receive such an honor, a privilege reserved for elves.
Belo'vir ignored their murmurs and focused his gaze on Leylin. With a serious look, he took the right to speak.
"You know what I want to ask, Rommath." Belo'vir's tone was very stiff. Rommath knew that this great magister was coming to call for punishment.
However, this is the Silvermoon Council, the institution that truly holds power.
Magister Rommath waved his hand to indicate that the stage of awarding honors has ended. The members can leave.
Only the two great magisters and Leylin were left in the entire hall. The atmosphere was very tense.
"Are you still confused about the interference that time?" Rommath frowned.
Belo'vir touched the medal on Leylin's chest and said, "This is the task of me and my student, but you interfered with our mission plan."
Rommath did not feel that he had done anything wrong in forcibly interfering in this mission.
He considered it from the perspective of the kingdom and believed that this decision was the right one. He said confidently, "You and I share the same perspective, both of us are concerned for the kingdom. The voodoo concocted by troll witch doctors like Ral'jin may cost us even more lives. Killing him is the best option."
Belo'vir shook his head and chuckled, "That's the decision of the Silvermoon Council. You're being too shortsighted."
"But this is war, Grand Magister Belo'vir!" Magister Rommath suddenly shouted.
Belo'vir remained calm, pointing to the sunlight behind the golden phoenix in the center of the hall. Then he said, "We are all mages bathed in the light of the Sunwell, the backbone of the entire Quel'Thalas. I hope you will consider your decision carefully. We are not afraid of the trolls' cunning schemes; we fear direct confrontation!"
"A voodoo incident cost us over a dozen elves. But over the thousands of years of war, Quel'Thalas has lost countless elven soldiers. Don't you know how many souls of our elven soldiers' drift throughout the Ghostlands? Ral'jin's death will cost us even more elven soldiers and rangers," Belo'vir countered.
Rommath walked with heavy steps to the center of the council hall. He took a deep breath and said, "Grand Magister, I understand what you say. You taught me the same thing in my youth, and I believed it without a doubt. However, since I entered the battlefield, my perspective has changed. I don't have so many idealistic plans. I watched my companions die at the hands of troll sorcery and spears. You know the pain. Three thousand years ago, we defeated the trolls, and they disappeared for thousands of years. This is the best way."
Belo'vir shook his head. The Rommath before him was no longer a child. He had his own ideas. Over the past thousand years, he had performed exceptionally well, rising from a high-ranking magister to the leading figure of the Silvermoon Council. I believe no other mage could have climbed to such a position so quickly.
"I respect your opinion, but I want to say something to you, child." Belo'vir said kindly.
Hearing these words, Rommath paused. He didn't know what he was thinking about, but his blue eyes were completely filled with a clear gaze. Rommath nodded.
"We are magisters, with powerful magical energy. Don't forget, the confidence that only magisters can have."
Leylin was puzzled by the words of his teacher. These words were not just for Leylin.
Standing in the middle of the hall, Rommath shook his head. He was silent.
But Leylin came to such a conclusion: no matter what happens, mages can always use their own means and methods to solve everything! Looking back at history, this is not wrong.
After leaving the temple of the Silver Moon Council, Leylin and his teacher returned to the Mage Tower.
As if nothing had happened, the teacher continued to work on the job at hand. Leylin took out the teacher's magic notebook, used the binder on the table, carefully made a cover for it, and fixed its body that was about to fall apart.
After finishing, Leylin began to read this notebook.
Utilizing arcane energy was an art as much as it was a science. It required focus, discipline, and a deep understanding of the currents that flowed through the fabric of reality.
After reading the substantive content, Leylin also began to memorize some knowledge that he had never seen before. This is the teacher's summary.
The teacher summarized it this way: Arcane energy is not just a special kind of magical energy. The characteristics of this kind of magic seem to carry a power that can establish order.
Titans also control the arcane magic and use it to establish order for each world. The mentor also discovered clues through his understanding of arcane magic.
Leylin did not have time to explore such profound issues. He only knew that he would be immersed in deepening his knowledge in arcane magic in the days to come.
