Becky POV.
The morning sunlight filtered into the room, waking me up to the sight of the weak little girl beside me.
All through the night I drifted in and out of the dream. World.
Scared of what tomorrow held for me.
"You're awake," Kenneth said, strolling in, his complexion looking better than last night.
"How's my mom?" I asked, tucking FaeFae in. I made my way to see my mom.
"She should be awake anytime soon," Kenneth said.
"You have another house? For a doctor, you seem to have a lot of hideouts," I said, trying to lighten up the tense atmosphere.
"Preparing for days like this," he teased back.
I stood outside the door; a part of me wanted to. Turn back, run, leave them, but I couldn't.
Seeing my mom's eyes still shut, I walked over to her, caressing her hands. "What if I wasn't born?" I muttered under my breath.
Her eyes fluttered open. "My daughter," she called as she tried to get up.
"Lie down, Mum," I said. "I'm alive, and you're alive too."
