The door leading to my room burst open as Draven stormed in, but he was already too late. Keilan had entered first, carrying Damien in his arms and gently rubbing his back, hoping to wake him up.
"What on earth is happening here!" Draven shouted the moment he saw Keilan in the room. It was never my intention for them to meet, but circumstances had forced it.
It all started with Damien, who had woken up breathing heavily in his sleep and crying out in pain.
"Mum, the bad guys are taking over me," he had said to me, clutching his chest with trembling hands.
I had reassured him by holding his hand and whispering that everything would be alright. But suddenly, he fell silent, and for a few agonizing minutes, I couldn't feel his heartbeat until I screamed for help.
Kylan heard me, and so did Keilan.
I had no idea why Keilan had been in the hallway at that hour, but he entered the room immediately to assist me.
