Chapter 25 - OTKE Chapter 25: Echoes of Enmity

Hades was worried about being besieged by Momonga, who was notorious in the game, and his companions, so he didn't go to the village to find out the situation in the first place.

But even if he was besieged, it wasn't that he couldn't survive; it was just that the price would be a bit high.

He could use one of the World Items - World Will. If he were still in the game, he could use this item, but now, if it wasn't necessary, he didn't plan to use it.

After all, it was a one-time item. After being used, it would disappear and randomly appear anywhere in the world. If it had been obtained by Nazarick, then he would really be tired of living.

Faced with Hades' question, Nigun's expression solidified. He quickly ran his brain, trying to figure out the other party's intention in asking this question.

But no matter how he thought about it, since the other party had asked this question, he probably didn't want anything to happen to this village.

Otherwise, why would someone with such great strength care about an insignificant village for no reason?

Of course, it was also possible that this person was just asking casually and didn't have so many thoughts.

But Nigun understood that he was now facing a difficult situation. If he made the wrong choice, his life would probably end here.

"I...I don't know. We came here this time to encircle and suppress a traitor. We found out that he was here, so the Theocracy sent us here," Nigun said stutteringly.

He chose the former option, believing that the other party didn't want anything to happen to this village.

The people who massacred the village were soldiers of their Theocracy. Although they were disguised as imperial soldiers, he had to try to clear the relationship as much as possible.

Hades nodded. Judging from what he had observed in the sky, this was indeed the case. After that strong man led people out, and the soldiers who had surrounded the village all gathered together and lifted the encirclement.

In this way, it also conformed to his statement. They probably didn't have any intentions towards the village.

But to be on the safe side, he should still ask some questions.

Hades continued to ask, "What's your name?"

"My name is Nigun. I wonder how I should address you?" Nigun's eyes lit up when he saw this, and he breathed a sigh of relief in his heart.

"Slane Theocracy, Nigun, what's your position?" Hades continued to ask.

"This...I can't answer that," Nigun's face showed embarrassment. The Sunlight Scripture was also considered a secret unit in the Theocracy.

"Hmm, I understand," Hades nodded again. For an army, secrecy was indeed necessary. He stared at Nigun with his eyes under his helmet and said, "Although I don't want to delay your mission, the companions of that magic caster will probably come here soon. I suggest you leave."

"Uh..." Nigun was stunned and asked, "I don't want to ask about the grievances between you and him, but I'm very grateful for your help. I wonder if you can do us a favor. I will pay you a reward."

"Do you think I'm particularly easy to talk to?" Hades' tone suddenly changed.

"No, no, no, I didn't think that," Nigun waved his hands repeatedly.

"Then get out of here quickly! I don't have that much patience to waste with you here," Hades scolded.

This person was really long-winded. Momonga's companions could come here to search at any time. He didn't want to directly confront the members of Ainz Ooal Gown.

But if he left, the soldiers who had just fought with Momonga would probably be miserable. And he was still trying to hire him to do things for them.

The situation in this world was currently unknown. Hades didn't want to get involved in the disputes of the natives at will. Although he had already been involved, he couldn't go any deeper.

"Okay, okay, we'll leave now."

After all, he couldn't withstand the threat to his life. Seeing that the communication with the other party was good, Nigun suddenly thought of the task of killing Gazef Stronoff, and his heart became hot. He wanted to hire the other party.

Killing Gazef Stronoff was an easy task for such a strong person. Even if the companions of that magic caster came here, he and his subordinates would have already left. Besides, there was this strong person here to hold them back.

But Hades' impatient attitude directly shattered his fantasy. It was as if a basin of cold water had been poured down on his heart.

This was the person who killed that terrifying magic caster. If the other party took action in anger, they would all die here.

What was important now was to report the intelligence of this mission to the Theocracy, not to be greedy and rash.

Nigun directed his subordinates to collect the corpses of their companions, while Hades just stood in place on his own, listening to the reports from the Hanzos at any time to make the next move.

Because this area had been completely blocked by Dimensional Lock, if the people from Nazarick wanted to know the situation here, they could only come in person.

And this area was very large, enough for the Hanzos to escape after reporting the enemy's situation to him.

But the Hanzos would probably be killed by the other party, and this was another thing that couldn't be helped.

He now needed to figure out the situation of Ainz Ooal Gown and find out if any other members had come here besides Momonga.

This was crucial. Players couldn't be compared to those NPCs. This was a recognized fact in YGGDRASIL, and even though the NPCs had gained life here, Hades believed that they were still inferior to players based on the battle just now.

At least there was a difference of several levels in terms of equipment. Although the NPCs of Nazarick possessed divine artifacts, both he and the Hanzos easily used Time Stop to isolate Albedo and the elf twins.

Time resistance wasn't so easy to obtain. Based on this alone, NPCs couldn't be compared to players.

If there had been another player besides Momonga during this assassination, then his assassination plan wouldn't have succeeded at all.

Judging how many members of Nazarick had come was also for the future.

Looking at Nigun, who had finished collecting and was about to leave, Hades suddenly thought of something and called out to Nigun, "Hey, wait a minute."

"What...what else is there, sir?" Nigun turned around stiffly and asked, his heart uneasy. Could it be that he felt humiliated by what he had mentioned just now and was now going to settle the score with them? Some strong people also had their own arrogance, just like that great figure in the Theocracy.

He was really confused. He shouldn't have been greedy and rash. Nigun felt extremely regretful at this time.

"I want to ask, are there any cities nearby? Uh...cities, you know? Places with a large population," Hades asked.

In order not to involve the villagers in the village, Hades didn't plan to go back. According to his prediction of the situation, Momonga might be exasperated and want to find out what had happened.

If he entered the village and let the villagers see him, Hades couldn't guarantee what Momonga would do.

Logically speaking, in YGGDRASIL, the purpose of Ainz Ooal Gown members killing people was to obtain equipment. These villagers clearly had no value.

Momonga should have no reason to make things difficult for them. As long as he didn't let these villagers see him, Momonga wouldn't be able to obtain useful information and probably wouldn't do anything to these villagers. This was both protecting the villagers and protecting himself.

He wanted to wait for a while, after things had passed and he had some understanding of this world, before returning to this village to ask what had happened during the day-to-day.

After all, that meal was a gesture of kindness to him. If he had been present when the village had a disaster, he definitely wouldn't have stood by and watched. But he wasn't there at the time, so he could only repay it afterwards.
