AIDEN CROSS
Seconds after his fiancée disappeared from the banquet, Aiden noticed Aurora's shoes. He picked them up by the straps and turned toward the stairs.
What the hell was she thinking running barefoot into a storm?
Before he could take another step, Ivy clutched his arm. "Where are you going?"
"To find my fiancée."
"But ... but Brother Cross, she broke up with you."
"She's jealous," he said. "And angry. She'll never end the engagement." He knew all too well how much Aurora wanted to marry him. "Wait here."
"I ... uh, sprained my ankle when Aurora threw me." She held onto his arm even tighter. "I don't think I can walk."
Aiden patted her hands. "Take a rest, Ivy. I promise I'll return for you."
He wouldn't care about Aurora at all if not for his beloved grandfather. Aurora was an orphan with no education, no family, and no career. Why Yeye Cross agreed to the marriage still stumped Aiden to this day. What did the old man see in her?
