Chapter 37 - The Bidding Game

As the guests gathered inside the auction hall, I checked the number on my invitation and made my way to my designated table. Thanks to Luna Rogers' high status in society, my table was very close to the stage, granting me a great view of the auctioned items. 

I turned my face slightly to my right, acutely aware that that was Cillian's spot. I could still feel the phantom of his touch on the back of my ankle and the warmth of his breath sealed under the layers of bandages. 

Heat bloomed in my cheeks again, and I quickly turned away, drawing a deep breath to steady my silly, racing heart. 

As expected, the auctioneer started with the cheapest item, which was the painting I wanted to buy for myself.
