Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Unexpected Gain, Back to Flame Island

"Old guy, can you actually make it?" Anna looked at Barnett and shook her head in disappointment, asking again with an annoyed tone.

This guy is definitely crazy. Leo doesn't look like a dwarf at all.

If there's any connection, it's probably with elves. He's handsome and doesn't have that rotten smell humans have. He's noble and elegant, just like elves.

Barnett looked at the blueprints in his hands, thought for a while, then said, "I need to test it, but it should be fine."

Leo didn't care much about it and said, "Let's go, back to the big ship."

The small boat was already far away from Sal Island, and the island still had loud dragon roars and soldiers shouting and fighting.

These soldiers obviously couldn't beat the dragon. Probably not many of them would survive.

"Too bad, we couldn't get the dragon egg," Anna said, standing at the front of the boat, looking at the sky lit up by fire, looking upset.

The others didn't care.

The small boat moved through the waves, and Barnett and Solomon treated the blueprints Leo gave them like treasures, discussing them excitedly.

Sometimes they had questions and needed to ask Leo.

They were excited, like they had opened a new world, and they wouldn't agree to leave even if they could.

Soon, Leo's pirate ship appeared on the sea, and there was nothing unusual around it.

"Marina, lower the rope," Lilia shouted to the big ship.

But there was no response from above.

"Marina isn't on the ship? Did something happen?" Leo had a bad feeling in his heart and quickly said, "Lilia, go up and check, others stay alert."

"Okay." Lilia agreed and climbed up the mast lightly. Then she jumped onto the big ship.

Leo looked around, and no prompt showed up, so it should be safe.

Soon, a rope ladder was lowered down from the big ship, and Lilia popped her head up, frowning and said, "Marina is gone, and there's no sign of a fight on the ship."

The others were confused and climbed onto the big ship. There was really nothing strange.

"Did Marina leave on her own?" Anna asked with confusion.

Ava opened her mouth but didn't say much.

She still remembered her grandfather's warning. The horned Fishman would bring disaster, maybe it was better that Marina left.

"Roar!"

A loud roar came from far away, followed by a big noise. The island was covered in fire, turning into a sea of flames.

"Mean humans, give me the dragon egg!"

The angry voice echoed, it was the dragon. It seemed the dragon egg was stolen, and it was completely angry.

"Sir, we should leave quickly," Secondy said, a little scared.

"Wait a little longer," Leo didn't believe Marina would just disappear.

And there was no danger prompt, they were safe for now.

[Bip, a strong presence is approaching]

Suddenly, a prompt showed up.

Leo was scared and instinctively wanted to tell Biggy and Secondy to raise the sails.

But it wasn't a danger prompt, just a strong presence approaching.

That made him feel relieved.

"There's someone in the air," Lilia pointed to the distance and shouted.

On the sea, two dark figures appeared, flying in the air and rushing towards them.

"It's a level 7 mage!" Anna frowned and said.

To fly in the air, you need at least a level 7 mage.

Two figures quickly flew over their heads, heading straight for Sal Island.

They must be here to fight the dragon.

"Sir, we should leave here quickly," Ava also spoke up.

First the dragon, now a level 7 mage appears. She just felt this place wasn't safe.

Leo hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Maybe Marina had left on her own.

He was about to speak when a water sound came.

Whoosh!

Below, the water splashed, and Marina appeared.

"What? Sir, you're back!" She saw Leo and the others on the ship and clearly sighed in relief. She quickly said, "Pull me up."

She was holding a gray-brown rock in her arms and couldn't climb the rope.

Biggy and Secondy quickly pulled the rope up and pulled Marina on board.

"Marina, where did you go? Didn't you know this place is dangerous?" Lilia scolded.

"I found something good," Marina smiled and handed the gray-brown rock to Leo.

"What is this?"

Leo was curious and took it. It was heavy, and it didn't look like a treasure at all.

"It's a dragon egg," Marina said calmly.

"What?" The others gasped and stared wide-eyed, rushing over. Even Barnett and Solomon looked curious.

"Is this a dragon egg? The dragon's egg?" Anna tapped the gray-brown rock, full of confusion.

The rock was definitely oval, but it was nothing like the dragon eggs they had imagined.

Leo also saw the properties of the gray-brown rock.

[Dragon Egg: Unhatched, Hatching Time: 3 years 11 months]

It actually needed four years to hatch.

Crack!

A light sound came, and Leo's pendant broke. It was the Flamestone Lilia had given him earlier.

Could this thing absorb the power of the Flamestone?

Leo looked at the broken Flamestone, feeling a little sad. He was curious, so he checked the dragon egg's properties again.

[Dragon Egg: Unhatched, Hatching Time: 3 years 10 months]

The hatching time had shortened by one month!

It must have been because of the Flamestone. If he could find 46 Flamestones, would the egg hatch directly?

Leo was excited.

Flamestone was precious, but not rare. There were definitely more in the deep part of the Fire Bat cave.

"Marina, did you steal the dragon egg?" Anna asked in surprise.

Marina smiled and nodded. "There was a small adventurer group passing by. I hid on the boat and overheard them talking. They said there was a dragon egg on the island, so I followed them secretly. I didn't expect to actually find it."

Marina said it all casually, but Leo could imagine how dangerous it had been.

The dragon alone was enough, and just the soldiers from the empire and kingdoms finding her would have been a death sentence.

Crash!

Suddenly, a huge explosion came from the island. The two mages had already started fighting the dragon.

Leo guessed the two guys must also be after the dragon egg. But now it was in their hands.

"Let's go, leave this place," he didn't want to stay any longer, and immediately ordered Biggy and Secondy to raise the sails and get out of here.

Even a level 7 mage was disturbed. If people found out they had the dragon egg, the consequences could be bad.

The sails went up, and the big ship sailed through the waves, leaving Sal Island behind. Only then did Leo and the others finally relax.

He decided to go back to Flame Island again. It was the only place they could stay.

Make a Smoothbore cannon, then think about the next plan.

The group still surrounded the dragon egg, all full of curiosity.

"Brother, can you eat this thing?" Anna tapped the egg and swallowed, asking.

Biggy and the others also looked interested, coming closer.

"This is a dragon, don't even think about it," Leo said, being careful. He gave the egg to Ava and said, "Put it in the ship's cabin. Don't let anyone else get close."

"Okay," Ava smiled and took the egg into the cabin.

"Such a tightwad," Anna complained and lost interest, sitting on the deck and staring off into space.

After five days of sailing, they finally reached Flame Island.

"Sir, welcome back," the old priest heard Leo was coming and immediately came out with people to greet him.

Leo nodded and said, "Priest, prepare an empty area for me, close to the beach."

He decided to melt iron and make a Smoothbore cannon.

Flame Island had a volcano, so there must be iron ore nearby. But these barbarians were too backward to know how to smelt iron or even recognize iron ore.

"No problem, I'll have someone arrange it right away," the old priest agreed quickly. He noticed the two dwarves by Leo's side and was curious but didn't ask much.

"Your island's people seem to have increased," Leo frowned and asked. He noticed there were over 200 more people on the island, and all were strangers, not the original locals.

The priest smiled and said excitedly, "That's all thanks to you, Sir. A few days ago, people from other tribes tried to attack Flame Island, but luckily, the Fire God's Anger you left behind scared those guys off."

Fire God's Anger referred to the bamboo tube explosives Leo left behind.

Anna and the others called it Skyfire, but these barbarians saw it as Fire God's Anger.

Leo nodded but didn't feel too happy.

He wasn't sure if leaving the bamboo explosives was a good idea. If the priest had ambitions to expand, it would start a big mess.

But luckily, Leo didn't leave many of them, and the old priest only used them for defense, not for too much killing.

"Sir, you all rest first. It will take some time to rebuild the huts," the priest welcomed them warmly.
