Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Werewolf, Demon Race, Leaving Flame Island

Leo and his friends stood at the edge of the cliff, and they could clearly see the battle below.

A few dozen barbarians were driving small wooden rafts, roaring as they plunged cold spears into the werewolves' bodies, and the sea turned red with blood.

War is brutal.

Leo stayed calm, his eyes as still as a pond. These werewolves deserved what they got.

"I've made up my mind, I have to learn how to swim!" Lilia looked at the battle on the sea and said firmly, biting her lip.

"I can teach you." Leo smiled.

"I can too." Anna raised her small hand and said excitedly.

She was a water mage, and could easily control water elements. She was born to swim.

Lilia looked between the two of them, and she thought both of them were unreliable. Finally, she looked at the quiet Ava next to Leo and said: "Ava, teach me how to swim."

"What? Lilia, you actually didn't choose me?" Anna was angry and waved her small fist, threatening: "I'm the princess, you have to listen to me."

Lilia ignored her.

Ava smiled and said: "Madam Lilia, I think there's a better teacher, Marina."

"Marina?" Lilia's eyes lit up. "How could I forget that girl. The Fishman spends all day around water, so her swimming skills have to be the best."

She didn't say another thing, but if she drowned, Marina would definitely save her, unlike Leo, who had looked really embarrassed.

"Hmph!" Anna huffed and didn't say anything else.

The battle on the sea was almost over. The werewolves were almost all killed, and the few that escaped would probably die in the endless sea.

Marina dragged a werewolf and was carrying a long sword, and she made her way to the shore with difficulty.

"Let's check it out." Leo and the others ran over quickly.

The werewolf was beaten up and unconscious.

Marina played with her long sword, not wanting to let it go. When she saw Leo, she ran over excitedly and said: "Sir, this werewolf's long sword is even sharper than the short sword made by Solomon."

"That's impossible!" Solomon was angry and said: "No race's forging skills can beat the dwarves. Except for Mister Leo, of course."

He was one of the best in his generation of dwarves, but after thinking about Leo's special situation, he added:

"Don't believe me? Take a look." Marina took out her broken short sword from her waist and explained: "I hit it with this guy's long sword, and it broke right away. Thank goodness I'm good at swimming, or I wouldn't have been able to hold onto this guy."

"How is that possible?" Solomon took his own short sword and didn't believe it.

"What?" Old Barnett made a surprised sound, and his eyes focused on the long sword in Marina's hand. He suddenly moved and snatched it away.

Marina was shocked and didn't react.

Leo and the others were also surprised. They didn't expect that the old Barnett had such skills.

"This... this is impossible..."

Old Barnett looked at the shiny long sword in his hand, his eyes full of fear and disbelief.

Leo didn't understand and asked in confusion: "This long sword has something wrong?"

Barnett nodded, his expression a bit heavy: "It's made by the Corrupted Dwarves. Those guys have joined the Demon Race. But there's a rumor that this group of dwarves was already destroyed. Why are their weapons showing up now?"

Corrupted Dwarves?

Lin Feng knew very little about the history and legends of this world, and he had never heard of Corrupted Dwarves before.

"Could it be a weapon made before?" Lilia said, looking at the shiny long sword and also feeling a bit excited.

Bang!

Barnett lightly tapped the blade, making a clear sound. The blade shook and the sound echoed for a long time.

He was sure and said: "This is a new weapon. It was made no more than six months ago."

"Could these werewolves be controlled by the Demon Race?" The priest frowned.

The others heard that and shivered a little.

Leo looked at the unconscious werewolf and said: "Wake him up, and we'll just ask."

"I'll do it!" Anna pulled out her staff and chanted a spell. A big water ball hit the werewolf right in the face.

Water splashed everywhere, and the werewolf coughed a few times before slowly opening his eyes.

"What?" He saw Leo and the others, his face changed a little. He instinctively reached for the long sword on his waist, but it was gone.

Bang!

Lilia stepped forward and kicked the werewolf in the chest, pressing him to the ground. She coldly said: "Talk. Where are you from? Why did you attack Flame Island?"

"Haha!" The werewolf laughed wildly and sneered: "A bunch of ants. You won't get any information out of me."

"Hmph, you're tough. Biggy, Secondy, come." Lilia huffed and called two minotaurs, walking toward the trees by the shore.

After a while, painful screams came from inside. It was clear that the werewolf was being tortured badly.

Leo didn't pay attention. He looked at old Barnett and asked: "Are the Corrupted Dwarves and the Demon Race very strong?"

"It's not just strong. It's evil."

Barnett was lost in thought. The Corrupted Dwarves were also a group of dwarves. They were even stronger than normal dwarves. They were not only good at forging but also at fighting. Their weapons were unmatched.

But the Corrupted Dwarves were too greedy. They joined the Demon Race.

The Demon Race caused a lot of bloodshed in The Remnant Continent thousands of years ago. They killed and enslaved humans and other races, almost causing a total disaster.

In the end, the gods came down and joined humans and other races to seal the demon god. The Demon Race and their followers were mostly destroyed or sealed.

But now, the Corrupted Dwarves and werewolves are appearing. It looks like the Demon Race is coming back. It might be about to return.

Leo thought about The Fountain of Immortality. He had a vague feeling that this might be related to the Demon Race.

At that moment, Lilia dragged the werewolf, who looked like a dead dog, out and threw him on the beach. She said: "I got the answer. This guy is from the Black Dragon Kingdom."

"Black Dragon Kingdom?" Leo was surprised. He thought it was just an island, but he didn't expect that the werewolves were actually from a kingdom.

Lilia nodded and said: "The Black Dragon Kingdom has a surviving Demon Race force. It seems they have taken control of the kingdom. They've been active lately and are planning to start wars with several countries. But the reason behind it, this guy didn't know."

"What else could it be? They definitely want the Demon Race to come back." Anna said coldly. The elves had also been killed by the Demon Race, and she had no sympathy for them.

"Then why did they attack Flame Island?" The priest was worried. He feared Flame Island would never be peaceful again.

Lilia said: "They want to capture the barbarians and train them into soldiers. In the past month, they've already taken a lot of barbarians and half-orcs, and sent them all to the Black Dragon Kingdom."

"That's really disgusting!" The priest was angry, looking at the dying werewolf on the ground, wishing he could tear him apart.

Leo knew the old man's worry, so he said: "Don't worry. After this battle, even if any werewolves survive, they won't dare to target Flame Island again. I'll leave you some extra gunpowder."

"Thank you, Sir." The priest looked happy, then his expression turned a little gloomy. "If you could stay at Flame Island forever, I think even the Demon Race wouldn't dare to bother this place."

Leo ignored the man.

His next destination was Giant Whale Island, where he had to rescue the minotaurs. There were still the minerals he needed, as well as materials for building a stronger rifled cannon.

Giant Whale Island had already been taken over by the Black Dragon Kingdom. It looked like he couldn't avoid a fight with them.

...

Leo stayed on Flame Island for another week. During that time, the island was very peaceful, and no werewolves appeared.

That gave the priest a lot of peace of mind.

Leo and his group had already prepared everything and were ready to set sail again.

"Mister Leo, you must come back often." the priest said, reluctant to let them go.

"Don't worry, Grandpa, we'll come back when we have time. You take care of yourself." Ava said from the front of the ship, waving goodbye with a sad look.

This time, Leo left four cannons and a lot of gunpowder behind.

Also, Solomon taught a few barbarians how to forge weapons and tools. As long as they didn't run into something as terrifying as a dragon, Flame Island would definitely become a strong force.

The sails were raised, the wind blew, and the ship quickly disappeared into the mist.

Setting sail again, everyone was very excited.

Especially Anna, who ran back and forth in front of the ten cannons, watching the moving mist and sometimes muttering: "Why haven't any enemies shown up yet? Oops..."

She cried out in pain, holding her forehead, and looked at Leo, who had appeared beside her without her noticing, and said angrily: "Leo, why did you hit me?"
