Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 shadow of the rails

The storm hammered the old iron bridge, turning the river below into a roaring beast. Two figures battled through the cold night. Mupie, a first-year Shohoku sorcerer, crouched on the rusted railing, his crimson eyes locked on Sasha, a soccerer. She slipped through the downpour, a scarlet ribbon of blood staining her sleeve. Lightning split the sky. In that flash, Mupie saw her moon-kissed dagger, and his heart hammered louder than the rain.

He lunged, feet slamming the slick metal. The world narrowed: breath, thud, steel.

"You can't outrun destiny, Mupie," Sasha hissed, spinning. The dagger arced—a silver blur. Mupie's katana screamed, sparks scattering like fireflies. He ducked, his sword slicing rain, each motion a deadly dance. Sasha grinned, feral. Thrust.

Mupie twisted like a willow. His katana caught the dagger's hilt, sending it clattering across the bridge.

"Nice try," he growled. With a surge of Cosmo, he unleashed a wind gust, ripping rain sideways. Sasha stumbled. The railing gave way. For a heartbeat, she hung over churning water. Mupie's hand snapped out, gripping her wrist.

"Give up," he whispered.

Sasha's eyes flickered—fury, relief. She let the blade fall. The storm receded. The bridge groaned silent. Mupie pulled her up, both drenched, hard-breathing.

"Next time, don't bring a dagger to a sword fight," he said, a half-smile cutting through fatigue. Sasha laughed, short and breathless.

"Alright. Let's go."

[Shohoku train station]

The train—a portal to Tokyo and beyond—teemed with people. Two individuals entered, bound for Kyoto, sitting across. One read a newspaper; the other scrolled her phone. She gasped.

"Oh my God, Oni-San! Isn't she pretty?" Timi held up Sakura, Japan's soaring artist, whose new song had conquered the internet. Sadori dropped his paper, stunned.

"Lord! She's so beautiful." Her Tokyo concert loomed. Timi was cut short.

BANG!

The train halted. Panic spread."Uh, what the hell?" A passenger alarmed. "I'll check." A man slid the door open, torch flicking into the storm.

"Be careful," his wife called, voice clad in fear.

He reached the front. The train was smashed, crushed by a hulking elephant—made of carcass of dead bodies.

"What the hell!?" He froze, sensing someone behind him.

"Don't move. I can see through you," a voice whispered. A soft hand touched his back.

"Too bad you have a nice structure… but now it'll go to waste. Shall I turn you into a crank, a delphor, or a goblin?"

He trembled. "P—"

A fellow passenger bumped them.

"Excuse me. Who are you? "I'm Hajime Sadori," the kid said, bravery in his stance. "Kizito Yushara. Nice to meet you, Sadori-san," Kizito said, evil smile intact.

"Please, don't. There's a way—"

Sadori wore a black long-sleeve, ZIP open, a token gleaming. Kizito's smirk widened "Soccerer from Jotyu, aren't you?"

"Wha—how did you know?" Sadori's shock was palpable.

"Doesn't matter. Playtime is over."

Kizito touched the man's back. _Ingrid Transmigration._イングリッド転生 (Inguriddo Tensei) The man bloated. Skin split. A 6-foot goblin emerged, steam hissing from its torso, massive arms ready.

"Now then… let's get this party started."
