My mouth opened and closed a few times but no sound came forth. Alec had a brow arched as he kept staring at me, like he was waiting for me to counter his response.
But I had no solid thing to counter with… because like he said, the contract was really already sighed.
"But… I didn't think that would be an issue." I argued weakly and he snorted.
"It's an issue?" He asked and I blushed, feeling the urge to hide from his gaze right now.
"Not an issue per se, but… you added that clause of no falling in love, and yet you're touching me…"
"Are you afraid that's gonna make you fall in love with me?" He asked bluntly, his brow arched again and I flushed while shaking my head fast, my heart pounding hard.
"What? No, of course not!" I cried out, feeling on the spot and like he was implying that it was that easy for me to fall in love.
It wasn't.
