The light faded, and I immediately regretted being alive.
The first thing I felt? Cold air. The second? The urge to punch both Kael and Zeref in the face.
We landed in the middle of a ruined forest, the kind where every tree looked like it had trauma and every shadow whispered, "you're not welcome here."
I staggered, still dizzy from the teleport, and hissed, "You could've at least warned me!"
Kael just dusted himself off. "You were already screaming. I figured that was your warm-up."
Zeref laughed, planting his staff into the dirt. "Cute. I think I like her already."
"Her has a name!" I snapped. "It's Eunji...ugh, fine, Leonhart, whatever makes your brain happy!"
Zeref smirked, tilting his head. "You know, it's strange hearing a man's voice yell like that and still thinking 'that's adorable.'"
"Stop calling me adorable!"
Kael was enjoying this way too much. "You make it easy."
I wanted to kick them both, but the universe already hated me enough.
