After the quick snack session, they went to the living room; sitting on the couch while watching the national TV channel. It was a 32" TV.
"Bro! Aren't you feeling starved? You've only eaten a small portion of cheesecake today." Seren said.
"It's fine, I don't feel any appetite for now." Felix answers.
"Okay, then, I'll cook for dinner! All I need is some ingredients and we can buy some later." She said eloquently.
"How can we even purchase one? We don't have money." Felix asserted plausibly.
Seren smirks defiantly. "Heh, who said we have none?" She pauses. "Mr. Friedrich gave us a suitcase, and it's in our bedroom." She leaned closer to Felix's ear. "It's 5.000 Reichmarks." She whispers.
Felix jumps, slightly blushed. "5.000!?"
Seren nods innocently.
Mr. Friedrich…, my suspicion against you grows even more. Felix is ambivalently pensive.
"Now, we'll switch to the post-war report against the Chronicles as of today." The host said in German from the TV. It was on Live. Felix's attention turns to her.
"The Chronicles were taking a beating from our military. There's no fatalities in our military. Our brave soldiers returned back to shelter safely; scratches and damage to the Panzerkrakes are acceptable and can be repaired properly. Glory! Glory always to Arya!" She said proudly.
Soldiers… they must be those who saved us.
"Uhmm… Bro, what did she say? I don't get a word…." Seren said.
"For short, she reported the latest information about the war. And the Chronicles were beaten back. But it'll come back soon, I suppose." Felix replies.
"Ohh…."
Felix took a long sigh. "When will this catastrophe end? The world is running in a vicious circle of war. I hate those monsters." Felix said somberly.
Seren smiled. She couldn't help but immediately cuddle Felix and make him lie on the sofa; buckling him. "I already know that you hate them, no need to assert." She said soothingly. "Those monsters have destroyed our home."
"Y-yeah…, you're right." Felix sighs.
"Y'know, bro, your behavior has been quite shifting since the incident…." Seren said.
She's right…. I was so energetic and happier back then. Felix got a glimpse of a flashback. Arghh, I'm sorry, dad, I couldn't do anything to save you. He ponders melancholy.
"Yeah, I know, I still couldn't move on. It's leaving a trauma." Felix said.
"Whatever it is…," Seren said out loud, lifting her head slightly to meet Felix's, "just enjoy our current state, 'kay? People here are so nice to us. It feels like we're greeted specially." She smiled.
Felix nods. "Anyway, did you forget that my back's current state is injured?"
"Sorry-" Seren jumps, but instantly, Felix catches her and pulls her tightly.
Felix giggles. "It's fine, I was just teasing you." He quips. "It's no longer hurt."
Seren's face burst red; she buried her face to Felix's chest. After that, she yawned. "I just slept, but it's so comfortable and warm here…. I…" Her eyes closed, and her body limp.
Felix then reaches for the TV remote. He turns it off. Afterward, he strokes Seren's hair gently. "Alright, then."
Felix's eyes and Seren's began to faint.
Felix's eyes began to open slowly. His vision is blurry, but he notices that his surroundings are already dark and Seren's not on top of him. He stretches his body, then on his feet. He saw that there's light from the kitchen. In the kitchen, there's Seren's back figure resting her palms on her hips; she's boiling something on the electric stove.
He sneakyly approached her, "Boo!" and whispered to her ear from the back.
She startled lightly like a cat and pinky cheeks. "Oh, you're awake!"
"Mhmm…." Felix looked at the pan. Seren was boiling water, and there were 2 cups of instant noodles. "This is what you're planning to cook?" He smirks.
"Hey, we haven't bought the ingredients yet, y'know?" Seren said.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Felix said, and he rested his chin on Seren's shoulder; their cheeks were touching each other—her cheeks felt warm. He watches Seren peel half-open a cup of the instant noodle.
"B-bro! C-can you wait somewhere else?" She said flusteredly.
Felix sighs. "Fine…."
He then walked towards the dining table and sat on its chair. He placed his elbow, and he rested his chin to his palm. He watches Seren pouring the hot water into the cups evenly. After that, she approaches the dining table with the instant noodles. He places one near to Felix, and the other one to herself who's just across.
"O-kay! Shall we dig in?" Seren said excitedly.
Felix puts on a soft smile. After that, he took a bite with the fork that's already inside the cup; it's steaming. "Oh- Ahh…, it's so hot."
On the other hand, Seren was blowing the noodle, which she had lifted slightly from the cup. She gave another blow and pointed at it as if she's like: You kidding?
Felix couldn't help but put on an awkward face. He does what Seren has.
Seren took her first bite, munching it and swallowing it. "My brother sometimes really is a dummy." She mutters challengingly playful.
Felix swallows. "Zip it up!"
Seren giggles.
After the quick dinnertime, Felix stacked the empty cups on the table. "Uhmm, where's the trash bin?" He asks
"Oh, there's one at the trash bank!" Seren said confidently.
Felix's gaze shows a hint of annoyance.
Seren giggles. "There's one right there." She pointed at the trash bin that's near their kitchen set.
After that, he went to throw them as should. When he was about to let go of the cups into the trash bin, suddenly, their doorbell rang. Who's visiting this late?
"Eh?" Seren then on her feet. "I'll get it! Wait, brother." She rushed to their front door.
At the front door, Seren opens the door slightly to peek through its gap. "Yes?" She asks; slightly looks up to see a man in a suit.
"We have a letter." The man in suit and sunglasses said emotionlessly. Actually, he's quite tall.
Then, the man handed the enveloped letter through the door gap. Seren hesitatedly took it from the man's hand, and he immediately walked away to a black SUV car afterward. She was left there, speechless.
