Chapter 14 - What a Peaceful Day... - II

Seren rushed back to the kitchen.

Seren approaches Felix. "Look, a letter!" She waves along with the letter.

Felix raises his eyebrow. A letter…? Oh! This must be from Mr. Friedrich. He thought. He took the letter that's inside an envelope; he examined it.

After that, he tore open the envelope to take the letter inside. He handed the envelope to Seren. After that, he nervously unfolds the letter. It's written:

Wvzi Uvorc,

Dv droo vhxlig blf lm 23 Uvyifzib 2047, 10.00kn.

Ivtziwh, Uirvwirxs Hxsrownzmm.

It was handwritten, but it's written like it was in a hurry. Whatever it is, this might be an important case. Like, why would they write it using scrambled up characters, but it was from a minister of defense?

Seren is also looking at it. "What is this, bro?" She was perplexed.

"Wait…."

Seren's gaze turned to Felix; she tilted her head.

"This… is a code."

"Code…?" Seren went puzzled.

"Yes…." Felix scans the text to comprehend it. His eyes widened and said, "This is an Atbash Cipher decoding."

"O-ok…. Can you solve it?"

"Sure, this isn't a highly secure decoding. However, it'll take some time since it was quite lengthy."

However…, isn't the German supposed to completely loathe Jewish? The Atbash decoder is originally from Hebrew, which is the language the Jewish spoke….Yup, they've had a dark history, especially the Holocaust.

Felix looks at the 'numbers' on the letter. It looks like a date. After that, he asks, "What date is it now?"

"Uhh, yesterday's 11 January 2047, so… 12!"

Heh, it's been 2 years and 4 months, huh? Alright, alright. Felix thought of the day of the incident. "Alright…."

Whatever it is, Felix decided to put it aside for now and went to their bedroom to place the letter on a work table next to the bed. When he gets back, he looks at the clock, and it says: 10.33. So, "You don't feel any tiredness, right?" he asked.

"Nope!" Seren said excitedly.

Felix stretches his arms. "Alright, we'll watch the TV for now, and I'll solve the code later."

Seren smiles softly. "Okay, bro…."

They're both sitting on the sofa closely. The TV's on, it rays brightly in contrast to the dark living room. Felix searched through the TV channels (yeah, there's no N*tflix, Y*utube, or other, in this world).

"Uhmm, bro…. What kind of code is Atba- whatever, is that?" Seren asks out of the blue.

"It's an ATBASH CIPHER DECODING."

"Ah, yeah, what actually is it?"

"Well, for short, it's a decoder that was used in ancient Hebrew. It turns the alphabet the opposite of their actual order. For example: A became Z, B became Y, C became X, and so on…. It works just like a reflector in Enigma decoder encryption that was used by the German military back then in World War II." Felix ponders and mutters, "Or they're actually referring to the reflector instead of the Atbash Cipher?"

"Ohh…." Awkward. "Yeah, good luck solving it, hehe."

He continuously scrolls for a channel, and then he stumbles upon a channel that airs anime.

"Oh, ohh…. I want this! I haven't watched anime for soooo long!" Seren said out loud.

Heh, they're still producing anime in this state of chaos? However…, Felix got a glimpse of a flashback. It's very peaceful here…. Perhaps Japan is also the same?

Felix sighs. "Alright, then." He places the TV remote back to its place.

It seems like watching this country's ally show isn't so bad at all.

After that, Seren leans to the side to rest her head on Felix's shoulder.

About 10 minutes later, just as the show went on, it's actually a romance anime. However, the thing is that the protagonist and the heroine are staring at each other closely on a bridge. The orange hue of the sunset and soft breeze makes the scene a lot more dramatic. With slight hesitation, the protagonist and the heroine kiss-

"Uwah-ha-haaa!" Seren, who was watching with all eyes on, kicked the air and blushed.

On the other hand, Felix couldn't help but stay awkwardly silent.

"Woah, I can't believe anime these days still has that quality! I will definitely watch it when it airs later." Seren excitedly said.

The screen turned to the credit scene and played their OST. Yes, it's the end of the show. Man… Seren would desperately want to start from the first episode.

"Maybe I'll hit the sack. You can watch the TV here, instead."

"Ehh…, can't we spend more time here?" Seren said innocently.

"I'm not really a fan of anime. And I want to keep my sleeping schedule ...."

"Please…. Ugh, okay, I'll go with you. But wait…." Seren waits for the 'coming up next' screen.

After the credit scene ends, the screen turns to the screen she had been waiting for…. It's an isekai action anime called: After Years of Becoming a Total NEET In My Room, I Suddenly Met a Mysterious Sorcerer on My Way To The Convenience Store and He Teleported Me To The Other World And I Become The Strongest. But I Became an Armor?

What in the world is that ridiculously long title?

Seren gave a disliking look. "Okay, this sucks." She turns the TV off.

They went to the bathroom to do their before-sleep routine—brushing teeth, washing face, etc. Oh, yeah, when they're brushing their teeth, Seren was wiggling side-to-side along with the rhythm of her brushing teeth elatedly as if she's dancing cutely. And yeah, Felix couldn't help but give a faint smile.

After turning the lights off, they went to the bedroom and switched the light on. Seren jumps onto the bed, and Felix turns the bedroom light off.

Felix went to the bed normaly—unlike her. "G'night, Seren." He said.

"Gooood night!"
