Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: A successful infiltration cannot be achieved without prior reconnaissance and investigation.

Inside the Rhodes Island medical bay, Warfarin was uncharacteristically staring at a screen, repeatedly dragging the progress bar.

"You're still watching!"

"Why wouldn't I? Falling from such a height, and you can clearly see from the surveillance footage that she landed on the back of her head first, yet what happened? She got up in less than a second, and after getting up, she showed no signs of injury whatsoever. I went to inspect the spot where she fell; there's still a small dent there to this day.

Kal'tsit, I probably have an idea of what Kanna is, and I believe with your knowledge, it's impossible for you not to know. Are you sure keeping such a thing on the ship is safe? Are you sure if Kanna truly loses control, you can guarantee Rhodes Island's safety?"

"I'm sorry, I cannot. But you should also understand that as long as she truly comes to love Rhodes Island, then I can guarantee that Rhodes Island will become one of the safest landships on this land. Risk and reward coexist. Since she has good intentions, I believe the benefits of accepting Kanna far outweigh the risks that need to be borne."

Kal'tsit didn't get angry after hearing Warfarin's reprimand, because Warfarin genuinely cared about Rhodes Island and believed it could bring new hope to the Infected, which was why she was upset about Kal'tsit taking in a creature that was difficult to "control."

"Alright! I hope it's as you say." Warfarin sighed and stood up.

"I just checked, and we have a significant shortage of medical equipment that needs to be purchased urgently."

"Hmm, I know about that. We've already contacted Rhine Lab, and a batch of medical supplies from Rhine Lab will be transported to the ship by Blacksteel Worldwide later."

After a brief argument, the two began to discuss and research the upcoming surgeries.

On the other side, after turning a corner, Kanna and Popukar found an Operator lying on the edge of an alleyway.

The two thought the person was having an oripathy attack or had been attacked, and immediately rushed over, only to find that the person was simply asleep.

Popukar recognized the person as Durin, a Caster from A4 Tactical Group.

Unlike the reserve tactical groups, Durin, as part of a tactical group, was a genuine official Operator.

After Popukar's reminder, Kanna realized that the person was indeed a "veteran" of Rhodes Island and a frequent participant (a nuisance) in public recruitment. The four members of A4 Tactical Group were designated as official Operators, yet all of them were two-star in the game, which was quite tragic, considering that even the reserve team's worst was three-star.

Kanna remembered that Durin's character setting in the game included a love for sleeping and the ability to sleep in various places, so encountering a sleeping Durin in this secluded and quiet alley corner was not a strange occurrence.

Knowing it was Durin, the two did not wake her but quietly retreated. After they left, Durin opened her eyes and looked in the direction they had departed. "Interesting kids. But what does it have to do with me? I'll just sleep a little longer… zzz…"

"Why were you so nervous just now!" Kanna asked Popukar after they exited the passage.

"Ah! Durin is an official Operator, isn't it normal for a reserve Operator like me to be nervous in front of an official Operator?"

..."Well, I'm an Elite Operator, and I've never seen you nervous around me?"

"Eh! Kanna-chan is an Elite Operator?! How amazing! Let me see~"

"Don't suddenly get so close~"

People passing by couldn't help but smile like doting aunts when they saw the two little ones huddled together like dumplings.

When the two arrived at the entrance of the dessert shop, they saw Blue Poison already waiting there.

Under her guidance, the three of them walked in together.

However, last time, when Blue Poison was making desserts, no one was watching Kanna, so she could freely sneak bites.

But this time, Popukar, assigned to the task by Blue Poison, kept her eyes wide open, watching Kanna, giving her no chance to utilize her insatiable appetite.

She could only sit there obediently, waiting for Blue Poison to bring out the desserts.

After eating, the two little ones, with narrowed eyes, lay on the table, savoring the taste of the desserts, looking exactly like two softened dumplings.

Once they had rested enough, Kanna and Popukar left the dessert shop hand in hand, continuing their "great mission" of cleaning Rhodes Island.

The reason Kanna had been slacking off so much during this period was due to the mission system. After joining Rhodes Island, two consecutive missions were issued: kill ten mutated creatures no smaller than three meters and weighing no less than one ton, and face a Calamity once.

Kanna had no chance to encounter the former on Rhodes Island. Even if mutated creatures appeared on the land, when a giant like Rhodes Island moved across it, those mutated creatures would hide far away, leaving no opportunity at all.

The second task was even more of a dream. There were quite a few Calamity Messengers stationed on Rhodes Island, and they would assist Rhodes Island in bypassing all encountered Calamities in non-emergency and non-essential situations.

So, it was impossible to encounter one, let alone face a Calamity directly.

As for the option of deliberately triggering a Calamity for her own mission, it never even crossed Kanna's mind.

It was precisely because of this that Kanna had not acquired any new skills during this period.

However, she did, under the guidance of Outcast, familiarize herself with the use of her Palm Thunder and Star Shift in the training room, and also developed quite a few little tricks.

Through various collaborations, before Rhodes Island entered the borders of Columbia for resupply and infiltration, Kanna, for once, didn't cause any new trouble.

Just as Outcast and her team finished organizing their equipment and were about to depart under the cover of night, Kanna's mission finally refreshed.

"Successfully complete a mission of this faction. Acquire one skill based on completion (skill strength determined by mission difficulty)."

Kanna rubbed her dragon horns. This difficulty was hard to judge.

After all, what would truly make her feel challenged would only be the complexity and deceptiveness of information, as she didn't particularly enjoy using her brain. For problems that could be solved with F2A, she usually wouldn't consider if there were more refined methods.

If it were about strength to make her feel challenged, she would probably have to meet some extraordinary individuals.

Therefore, to complete this mission, she couldn't be on Rhodes Island. Given the current situation, even if there were missions for her on Rhodes Island, they would likely be the simplest kind, and the skills she would acquire would inevitably not satisfy her.

However, she found an opportunity, because through her secret observations over the past few days, she knew that Outcast's departure from Rhodes Island for a secret mission was imminent.

And through her observations and explorations these past few days, she had pretty much surveyed all the intersections and monitoring points within Rhodes Island, so sneaking out unnoticed shouldn't be too big of a problem.

So, when she discovered that Outcast was about to leave, she hid herself first.

Because they left in the dead of night, assuming everyone else was asleep, they didn't notice a Young Dragon secretly sneaking into the convoy.
