Chapter 11: Change of Plan
The ship docked, secured to a wooden post with ropes.
Lena and Mina headed to Cannonfire Town together.
Lena walked in front, with Mina following behind her, expressing her thoughts about Cannonfire Town.
"I came here once when I was little, and it still feels the same as before, especially this smell of steel."
The sound of hammering metal echoed in her ears.
Many pirate ships were also moored at the harbor; some were there to reinforce their hulls, others to purchase cannon equipment.
"Coming here feels like coming to an industrial zone."
She checked out an equipment shop and found that all the equipment was level 10 or higher, but most of it was of common quality.
So she didn't buy any of it; the equipment dropped by monsters was better, and buying now would just be a waste of money.
She then arrived at the cannon shop.
"Welcome, ladies! Please feel free to choose your cannons; we have everything you could possibly need!" The boss grinned, revealing his big black teeth.
All sorts of cannons were displayed before her.
The most common was a level 10 cannon, which could be purchased for 50 gold coins.
As the quality increased, the price also gradually rose.
A level 10 intermediate quality cannon cost 100 gold coins, while a high-quality cannon was 300 gold coins.
Of course, there were also level 20 series cannons, but they were not available for purchase.
After some thought, Lena decided to buy a common cannon as a temporary measure, saving money to buy a higher-level cannon would be the most suitable approach.
She didn't know yet that after leaving the Novice Village, she would soon face the dangers of pirates.
She checked her inventory and found only a few gold coins left.
No problem, Cannonfire Town has quests and monsters ranging from level 10 to 20.
Behind Cannonfire Town was a quarry with rock monsters and hostile pirates.
So Lena began her journey of fighting monsters and earning money in Cannonfire Town.
After equipping her new weapon, her output was almost one shot, one kill.
Two hours later, her level reached 13, and she had saved enough for 50 gold coins.
With the money, she eagerly went to the cannon shop and purchased a level 10 common cannon, installing it on the port side.
"Haha, now I can fight pirates!"
Just as she was about to board her ship and head out to fight pirates, her phone rang.
"Babies, I need to take a call."
Lena took off her headphones and went into the bedroom.
"Hello, Benno, is something wrong?"
Benno and Lena were both members of the MG Team.
"Leni Sis, we're having a video conference, do you have time?"
"I have time."
So Lena joined the video conference.
There were eight people in the video conference, including members and the coach of the MG Team.
Jonas Keller, the captain of the MG Team, said, "Everyone is here. I apologize for having this meeting so late."
"No problem, Captain Jonas."
"Tell us, Captain Jonas, holding a meeting this late must mean something important."
Jonas nodded, "Leni, you're streaming Pirates of the Caribbean, right?"
"How did you know?"
"I'm in your live stream."
Lena looked a bit embarrassed at his words, "Sorry, I haven't been practicing Brave Adventure lately."
"It's fine, I'm not here to criticize you. I want to ask for your opinion on this game, can you share it?"
Lena thought for a moment and said, "I'm not sure what aspect you're asking about, so I'll just speak from what I've seen. First, the game's graphics are world-class. I also tried Kingdom Adventure, and this game is much better than Kingdom Adventure."
"Secondly, in terms of gameplay, character customization, classes, skills, monster fighting, combat feel, equipment, and models, I think they are all top-notch. I haven't felt this immersed in a game for a long time."
"Ever since I became a professional player, everything I played felt boring. This game changed my perspective."
Jonas: "Has anyone else played Pirates of the Caribbean? Share your thoughts as well."
Benno: "I saw Leni Sis playing it, so I downloaded it too. I just want to say, I f***ing love this game so much! This is what a game should be, everything else is garbage!"
"Watch your language!"
"Sorry, I got too excited. I once dreamed of sailing, and this game fulfilled my dream. My evaluation is the same as Leni Sis's."
Several people in the team had played it, and their evaluations were all very high.
"Captain, why are you asking this?" Benno asked, puzzled.
Jonas pondered for a moment, "I'm thinking of changing our team's previous plans."
"Ah!?"
Everyone showed incredulous expressions.
Jonas: "Originally, our team was preparing for Morgenstern Studios's new Kingdom Adventure, but now, our plans have been disrupted. From the overall quality of the game and its trending status, I predict this game will become globally popular and firmly overshadow Kingdom Adventure."
"Making this decision is difficult because our team has investment from Morgenstern Studios, so I want to hear everyone's opinions."
The video conference fell into a brief silence.
The MG Team had multiple sponsors, with Morgenstern Studios being the largest.
Their sponsorship requirements were simple: for the MG Team to achieve good results in Brave Warriors Battle and the upcoming Kingdom Adventure.
If they didn't play Morgenstern Studios's games, Morgenstern Studios would withdraw its funding and sponsorship.
It could be said that if the MG Team switched games, it would be akin to going against their sponsor.
Currently, no one knew which company Pirates of the Caribbean was backed by, nor did anyone know about its subsequent operational status.
Once a wrong choice was made, the team would face dissolution.
Benno: "Don't announce our move into Pirates of the Caribbean yet. We can play it privately first and see how the wind blows. If this game can truly sustain its operations, they should hold related competitions later."
"I think so too. The purpose of our team's existence is for competitions. We can win prize money, gain team exposure, and thus attract sponsors."
"What I wanted to talk about today is this matter. Everyone, practice this game privately, don't fall behind. My character is already level 8, and my next stop is also Cannonfire Town. Leni, prepare a guide for us in advance."
Lena smiled slightly, "No problem, you can ask me anything. And I've seen messages in the fan group that members of the SW and KT Team are also playing this game. We can't fall behind."
Benno: "Haha, it seems everyone has the right vision. Just wait for me, I'm going to become the Pirate King of Pirates of the Caribbean!"
The video conference ended, and Lena's mood gradually calmed down.
She supported the captain's decision; Jonas had always had good foresight, not just in choosing games but also in selecting team members, which was one of the reasons the MG Team could win championships.
In short, she couldn't approach it with a casual attitude anymore.
Not just the MG Team, other teams also held meetings one after another to discuss entering Pirates of the Caribbean.
